7:30pm: RB Leipzig v Stuttgart – RB Leipzig to Win and Over 2.5 Goals
We’re all looking ahead to this weekend’s football action but we’re focusing on Friday night’s games to hopefully land a winner to earn us a bit of cash.
First up is RB Leipzig v Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, which sees second host 14th.
Leipzig have impressed this season and they’re just four points behind league leaders Bayern Munich. They come into this one on the back of their 6-1 win at strugglers Schalke and they’ve won eight of their last nine in all competitions, with their only blemish coming in their 1-1 draw with Bayern.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, have won just one of their last five and they’re one point off the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.
All signs point to an RB Leipzig win but we’re going to add in Over 2.5 Goals to boost the odds.
7:45pm: Lecce v Salernitana – Lecce to Win
From Germany to Italy now as 14th-placed Lecce host Salernitana in 16th.
While they’re close in the Serie A table, Lecce are in much better form than their counterparts. Prior to their surprise 2-0 defeat at Verona last time out, Lecce had lost just one of their previous eight games (won four, drawn three).
Salernitana, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five in the league and conceded 16 goals in the process thanks to their 8-2 defeat at Atalanta earlier this month.
We’re siding with Lecce to Win as the three points could move them up to tenth in Serie A depending on other results.
We finally get to see Manchester City v Arsenal, however, it’s in the FA Cup fourth round instead of the Premier League. Despite that, it should still be a belter at the Etihad in another master v apprentice showdown between Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.
City come into this on the back of their 3-0 win against Wolves, with Erling Haaland netting a hat-trick to take his tally for the season up to 412 goals.
Arsenal, meanwhile, overcame Manchester United in a 3-2 thriller at the Emirates on Sunday to give themselves a five-point advantage on City – plus a game in hand – in the title race.
It feels silly to try to pick a result in this one so let’s just go safe and back Over 2.5 Goals. There’s too much quality in both teams for them not to find the back of the net a few times.
8pm: Lorient v Rennes – Over 2.5 Goals
Finally, we’re finishing in France for Lorient v Rennes in Ligue 1 as fifth host seventh.
Rennes have impressed this season, winning 11, drawing four and losing just four of their 19 games so far. They’re just five points behind Marseille in third and a win will take them above Monaco and into fourth.
Lorient, meanwhile, have suffered a dip in form recently. They’ve won just one of their last five, with that victory coming against bottom of the table Angers.
While a Rennes win seems the most likely outcome, their away form of two wins from their nine fixtures is off-putting.
Instead, we’re siding with Over 2.5 Goals. The selection has landed in four of Rennes’ last five away games and in three of Lorient’s last four home fixtures. Let’s hope that continues!
