It couldn’t have gone much better for Arsenal against Man United.

They’re answering all the questions people have about them. United were in great form but Arsenal were brilliant.

They showed real character too to come back after going down so early. That would’ve been a game they would’ve lost or drawn in the past.

But they were relentless. And they expected to score when they put the pressure on United.

They look like a league winning team.

The Cup can be difficult to navigate when you’re in that kind of form. You want to keep winning, but then you might want to rest players too.

And they’re playing their biggest rivals for the title in this game. You don’t want to let them get one up on you. If you play a load of youngsters, they could get beaten three or four nil.

I’d still expect them to play quite a strong side.

Eddie Nketiah really shown his quality since Gabriel Jesus has been out. He’s proving he has goals in him as well as being a good all-round player and I can see him playing on Friday and causing problems.

For City, Pep Guardiola might’ve felt his players needed a kick up the a*se – that’d explain his comments after the Spurs game.

They’d won but he’s a top manager because he doesn’t let up. If they fall below the standards he sets he’ll want to quash it before they go on a bad run,

Even in that game, they were two-nil down, he wasn’t going to let them away with that. Quite a few big names were left out of the team too. That was a reminder to them that they can’t rest on their laurels.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

De Bruyne came back in against Wolves and was great. Erling Haaland hit another hat-trick too, his fourth of the season.

He makes it look so easy – looking at him, you’d think anyone can do it! He’s just always in the right place at the right time.

I think he might get a rest this week though. Julian Alvarez will probably be in the City team and I can see him making a contribution.

And Riyad Mahrez has been a big player for them recently.

He played well against Spurs and I’d expect him to show up again on Friday night.

This is also a good chance for Pep to see how his team match-up with Arsenal this season – they still haven’t played each other in the league yet.

And City still expect trophies every year. If Arsenal do keep going in the league like they are, the FA Cup is a great secondary trophy to win.

While it’s hard to know for sure who’ll play, I expect some great football in this. These are two teams that play the game so well and there’s obviously the master and apprentice going head-to-head in Guardiola versus Arteta too. Given the way both sides try to play through the middle and control the game, you wouldn’t expect a lot of corners.
