Man City v Wolves

Wolves +2

Manchester City may have gotten back to winning ways against Tottenham on Thursday, but they are still a far cry from the team that won the league last season. They were plagued by inconsistent performances before the World Cup, losing at home to Brentford and sneaking past Fulham courtesy of a last-minute penalty, and those inconsistent performances have continued since the return of club football last month.

Last week’s derby defeat to Manchester United saw City’s title hopes take a major dent, while a home draw against Everton has proved to be the only point that Everton have picked up since the World Cup. Wolves, on the other hand, appear to have turned a corner under Julien Lopetegui since his appointment before Christmas.

They have earned huge victories over relegation rivals West Ham and Everton to move out of the bottom three and were the better team in both FA Cup ties against Liverpool. In just four games under Lopetegui, they have picked up seven points and scored four goals, far outperforming their record of 10 points and eight goals in 15 games under Bruno Lage. Wolves ran City close at the Etihad last season and can do similar against them on Sunday.

Ruben Neves to be Shown a Card

Although the season has just reached the midway point, Ruben Neves is already nearing a two-game suspension for accumulating 10 yellow cards. The Portuguese midfielder has picked up seven yellow cards in 18 appearances for Wolves this season, the most of any player in the Premier League this season.

Neves averages 0.8 fouls per game in the league and runs the risk of a booking against a highly technical City side. City’s last six opponents have collected a combined 18 yellow cards and Wolves are likely to be no different, considering that City will dominate the ball. Neves could move closer to a two-game suspension on Sunday.

Leeds v Brentford

Both Teams to Score

Brentford have made a brilliant return following the mid-season break. Thomas Frank’s side have taken ten points from four games since the World Cup, drawing with Spurs and beating Liverpool. They have now taken the scalps of Liverpool, Man City, and Manchester United this season and have also recorded draws against Chelsea and Spurs. As good as they have been, however, their defensive record leaves a little to be desired.

Brentford have conceded 28 goals in the league this season – the most of any side in the top ten – and have managed just six clean sheets in 19 games. Leeds, on the other hand, find themselves on a terrible run of form, picking up just two points in their last five games. However, still remain one of the league’s most entertaining sides, scoring the joint-most goals of any side in the bottom ten. All signs point to an entertaining, high-scoring affair at Elland Road on Sunday.

Ivan Toney to Score Anytime

Ivan Toney netted an incredible hattrick in Brentford’s 5-2 win over Leeds in the reverse fixture, and the Brentford striker is by far the most likely Brentford playing to score at Elland Road on Sunday. Toney has scored 13 league goals for Brentford this season, earning nine points. He scored both goals in Brentford’s famous 2-1 win at the Etihad and has scored three goals in four games since the restart. He is good value to add to his impressive tally at Elland Road.
