Man United v Everton, FA Cup Third Round
Friday, December 6: 8pm.
TV: ITV

Manchester United -1

It’s difficult to sum up just how bad Everton were in their defeat against Brighton on Tuesday night. Frank Lampard’s side simply capitulated early in the second half, allowing the visitors to score at will during a devastating five-minute spell. They are without a win in six league games now and find themselves perilously close to the bottom three as the league approaches its midway point.

Manchester United, on the other hand, appear to be heading in the right direction after a slow start to the season under Erik Ten Hag. United have won 13 games out of 16 since losing the Manchester derby at the beginning of October, drawing two and losing one. United have won their last eight home games in all competitions and should have far too much here.

Both Teams to Score: No

United have not conceded a home goal in the Premier League since a 3-1 win over Arsenal at the beginning of September in a run of five games without conceding. They have conceded in just one of their last nine home games in all competitions and appear to have turned Old Trafford into a fortress under Ten Hag.

Everton, meanwhile, have failed to score in seven of their 18 league games this season, including three of their last six outings in the division. They boast the fourth-worst goalscoring record in the league after Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham and it is difficult to see them causing United too many problems.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

Marcus Rashford has been electric since returning from the World Cup, scoring in each of United’s four games since the return of club football. Rashford is their top scorer, with seven goals in the league and 12 in all competitions, which is more than double the tally he managed last season.

Of those seven league goals, three have opened the scoring, while four of his 12 goals in all competitions have come as United’s first goal in the game. He is by far the most likely Red Devils player to get themselves on the scoresheet.

Alejandro Garnacho to Score Anytime

Alejandro Garncho has failed to add to his tally of United goals since his dramatic late winner against Fulham before the World Cup, but the youngster is sure to do so soon. Garnacho saw a second-half effort hit the post in United’s win over Bournemouth on Tuesday and spurned a great chance in the win at Wolves on New Year’s Eve. He also missed a good opportunity in the win over Burnley in the League Cup.

Despite this lack of clinical finishing, however, Garnacho has continuously gotten himself into good positions and is clearly a talented player, so he is bound to find the back of the net sooner rather than later. He should find joy against an Everton defence that has conceded 16 goals in their last six games in all competitions.
