Spurs are fourth in the Premier League despite the amount of games they’ve underperformed in. The biggest reason for this is that they’ve only drawn three of their sixteen games – so clearly they’re not afraid to be open.
It generally brings the result of their games boiling down to one question: which of these two teams do you believe can outscore the other?
Chances are certainly not few and far between in their games, and they’ve not got the fear factor that bigger clubs have when they do open up. Opposition sides aren’t afraid to attack Spurs because they believe they can win games.
But will Villa convert the chances they create at a higher rate than the chances their attacking impetus will present Spurs? Absolutely not.
Without question. Spurs are maybe the most blockbuster side in the league and that’s because they’re afraid to carry the ball – almost like a throwback to the late 90s.
Each one of their last five Premier League games has hit the over, with three of those five even hitting Over 3.5 goals. I wouldn’t be expecting anything less than a goalfest.
Villa have found the net in each of the three Premier League games that Unai Emery has been in charge for.
But while we can credit him for unlocking this potential, we should also acknowledge that there aren’t many sides in England with a better pair of finishers than Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins.
Here’s a statistic for you. In Spurs last night Premier League games in which they’ve found the net, Harry Kane has opened to scoring in eight of them.
Generally speaking, Spurs’ primary strategy to open up games isn’t to score goals – it’s to enable Kane to score them. Given he’s clearly in good form, I quite like the price here too.
