Saturday 12.30pm: Wolves v Man Utd
TV: BT Sport 1

Man Utd to Win

Julen Lopetegui couldn’t have asked for a better start to life as Wolves manager after his side came from a goal down to beat fellow relegation rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Boxing Day.

Wolves were unspectacular in that 2-1 win, but a win of such magnitude is nothing to be sneered at and was the perfect way to resume their Premier League campaign after the World Cup.

Manchester United, on the other hand, looked incredibly comfortable in their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

United fans might have worried about a World Cup hangover given so many of their players made it to the quarterfinals or further, but United looked slick and efficient, albeit against a very poor Forest outfit.

United have won on their last two trips to Molineux and need to make it three on the bounce if they are to keep pace with the teams above them in the race for Europe.

They should have just about enough to get over the line against a rejuvenated Wolves side.

Both Teams to Score

United kept their fourth consecutive home league clean sheet against Forest and are clearly turning Old Trafford into something of a fortress under Erik Ten Hag.

However, their away record paints an entirely different picture, with United failing to keep a clean sheet in their last five league games. 16 of the 20 goals that United have conceded this season have come away from home, and they now take on a Wolves side liberated from the defensive football of former manager Bruno Lage.

Wolves have scored the fewest goals in the Premier League, managing a meagre 10 goals in 16 games so far. In just one game under Lopetegui, they managed to score 25% of their total league goals under Lage this season.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see them breach a United defence that has struggled to keep teams out on their travels.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

Marcus Rashford has not just rediscovered his form this season but has reached a whole different level under Ten Hag. Rashford has scored in both of United’s games since the World Cup, providing a brilliant finish against Forest and hammering home following a sublime solo run against Burnley in the League Cup.

Rashford has scored 10 goals in all competitions for United this season, double the tally that he managed in the entire campaign last year.

It is not just his goals that have improved but his overall performance. Rashford was electric against Forest and seems to be brimming with confidence.

He should fancy his chances against a Wolves defence that coughed up several gilt-edged chances against Everton on Boxing Day.

Alejandro Garnacho to Score Anytime

It would be somewhat surprising if Alejandro Garnacho didn’t start ahead of Antony at Molineux given their respective performances on Tuesday.

Antony was comfortably United’s worst player against Forest, while Garnacho, who replaced him, got fans out of their seats every time he touched the ball.

The Argentinian winger has only scored two senior goals but looks dangerous whenever he goes forward and has all the tools to hurt Wolves.

His two United goals to date have come away from Old Trafford and he is good value to add to his tally in United’s final game of 2022.
