3pm: Man City v Everton

SELECTION: Man City -2

You would have to feel sorry for Everton fans. Made to digest a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth for six long weeks and then forced to watch on as Wolves scored a last-gasp winner in their first game back after the World Cup.

Everton are well and truly in a relegation dog fight and head to the Etihad in terrible shape. They have lost their last three league games and have won just three games in the league all season.

They currently sit one point above the relegation zone and may well find themselves in the bottom three early in the new year if things go against them. City, on the other hand, were efficient in their 3-1 win at Leeds on Wednesday and will be confident of putting on a show in front of their fans.

They have their last ten games against Everton in all competitions and there is no reason at all to think that that run will end on Saturday.

3pm: Fulham v Southampton

SELECTION: Fulham -1

Things are starting to look really bleak for Southampton. Rooted to the foot of the table, they are likely to head into the new year in the relegation zone and prospects of them winning at Craven Cottage against an in-form Fulham are not good.

Fulham won 3-0 at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, albeit aided by two Palace red cards.

However, Fulham have been excellent since their promotion last season and finally look set to break their run of immediate relegation from the Premier League.

They currently sit ninth in the table on 22 points, just two points behind near neighbours Chelsea. Southampton, on the other hand, endured a Boxing Day to forget against Brighton with defensive errors on show throughout their 3-1 defeat.

They have now lost four league games on the bounce, conceding 11 goals in the process and it is difficult to see anything other than a comfortable Fulham win on New Year’s Eve.

3pm: Bournemouth v Crystal Palace

SELECTION: Both Teams to Score

Both Bournemouth and Palace failed to score in their respective defeats to Chelsea and Fulham during the week, but both will fancy their chances of scoring on Saturday given how vulnerable their opponent looks at the back.

Bournemouth conceded twice in their defeat at Stamford Bridge and have now conceded 11 in their last five league outings, while Palace have kept just one clean sheet in their last six league games.

Bournemouth’s defensive record is the worst in the league, so Palace will expect to test it. But The Cherries have also been relatively free-scoring this season, bagging 18 in 16 games – the third-best record of all teams in the bottom half.

There should be goals on Saturday afternoon.

3pm: Newcastle vs Leeds

SELECTION: Miguel Almiron to Score Anytime

Are Miguel Almiron and Newcastle ever going to slow down? With Almiron leading the charge, The Toon have been superb this season and find themselves in pole position in the race for the top four at the turn of the year.

Almiron, meanwhile, has been nothing short of magnificent, scoring nine goals in 16 league appearances this season.

He has never hit double digits in the Premier League and has the chance to put that right on Saturday.

The Paraguayan will surely relish coming up against a Leeds defence that boasts the fourth-worst defence in the Premier League after Southampton, Forest, and Bournemouth.
