Second-placed Sheffield United head to third-bottom Wigan in the Championship on Monday night for a mid-season clash that should, by all accounts, go to form. The Blades have been scything through their second-tier rivals of late, winning five of their last six matches either side of the international break, while Wigan have won just one of their last nine.

Even more concerningly for The Tics, they’ve got the worst home record in the whole division with just nine points taken from their 11 games at the DW. United have the second-best record on the road with 20 points from 11 games. This, on paper, is an open and shut away win for Sheffield United.

Oli McBurnie to Score Anytime

It’s been a tough period off the pitch for Oli McBurnie of late but he’ll be looking to put that behind him and let his game do the talking now. He’s tied at the top of United’s goal scorer charts with Iliman Ndiaye but has featured in four fewer games and has played way fewer minutes.

Will Keane is Wigan’s most prolific scorer with eight but, given how good the away side’s defence is, I think they’ll struggle to net. He might not start but he’s got a good record as a super sub so we’ll side with McBurnie to Score Anytime.

Throwing all this into the pot and we’re looking at a 1-0 Sheffield United win, an outcome that would be their fourth such victory by that scoreline in their last six games. Wigan have been a bit better going forward in recent games with five goals scored in their last five but United are just outstanding at the back.
