Sunday 3pm, 2022 World Cup Final: Argentina v France
TV: BBC, ITV, RTE

Lionel Messi & Kylian Mbappe to combine for 4 or more shots on target

It’s Argentina v France on Sunday afternoon but many are looking at it as Messi v Mbappe.

The PSG team-mates have been sensational in Qatar, with both of them scoring five times. Messi has also chipped in with three assists, while Mbappe has set up two goals.

The pair have both averaged two shots on target throughout the World Cup so Messi and Mbappe to combine for 4 or more shots on target makes plenty of sense.

You’ve also got the added safety of the selection being a combination, meaning if Messi has four shots on target but Mbappe fails to have any, it will be settled as a winner.

Both Teams to Score, 3+ Corners Each Team & 2+ Cards Each Team

World Cup finals are always tightly contested affairs, however, with the quality on show for both Argentina and France, we could have a fairly attacking game.

If you’re struggling to decide who to back in the final, Both Teams to Score, 3+ Corners Each Team & 2+ Cards Each Team might be the way to go.

Argentina have scored in every World Cup game so far, while France have netted at least two goals in five of their six outings.

Argentina to Win, Argentina Most Shots On Target & Argentina Most Corners

France has been hit with an illness ahead of the World Cup final, which could swing the tie in Argentina’s favour.

Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano both missed the semi-final win against Morocco, while Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate and Kingsley Coman are also said to be struggling with the illness.

If France are without the likes of Varane and potentially Upamecano and Konate, Messi and Co. could hold the advantage over their rivals.

If you fancy the South American side to dominate with France’s woes, Argentina to Win, Argentina Most Shots On Target & Argentina Most Corners could be worth getting behind.

Kylian Mbappe 1+ Shots On Target in Each Half & France 3+ Shots On Target in Each Half

While France may be struggling with illness, many will still fancy the 2018 winners to win it all again in Qatar this winter.

Mbappe is France’s main goal threat, however, Didier Deschamps still has the luxury to call upon Olivier Giroud, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann.

France’s attack has caused problems for every team they’ve played at this World Cup so Mbappe 1+ Shots On Target in Each Half & France 3+ Shots On Target in Each Half could be a shrewd selection.

Mbappe has averaged two shots on target per game and it seems unlikely that Argentina’s back line will be able to keep France’s attacking players quiet for 90 minutes.

Julian Alvarez to Score; Argentina to Score in Each Half & Theo Hernandez to be Carded

Now we’re onto our biggest odds #WOP special.

Argentina has scored twice in every game at the World Cup since their shock 2-1 defeat in their opening game against Saudi Arabia and they could easily net a couple against France’s makeshift defence which has been riddled by illness.

Messi is obviously Argentina’s main man, however, Manchester City’s back-up forward Julian Alvarez now has four goals at the tournament following his brace in the 3-0 semi-final win against Croatia.

He will be desperate to add to his tally and with Alvarez and Messi playing up top, France’s back line will be busy.

Theo Hernandez was booked in France’s 2-1 win against England, with Bukayo Saka giving the left-back a nightmare evening.

Hernandez, who has been booked five times for AC Milan this season, will come into contact with Alvarez and Messi – and he could pick up a card.

Rodrigo De Paul also played on the right side of midfield against Croatia and the Atletico Madrid man is well known for getting involved in off-the-ball antics.
