WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
The Championship returned last weekend after a month off and it’s fair to say it didn’t exactly set the world alight, only six of the 12 games saw Over 2.5 Goals landing and there were only six games that saw Both Teams to Score occurring too. There’s plenty of fixtures lined up for Saturday afternoon and we’ve gone through the best of the games and found a five-fold Both Teams to Score Acca where value is the name of the game. All games are televised on Sky Sports (via the red button) and kick off at 3pm.
Bristol City v Stoke – Both Teams to Score, No
Both City and Stoke went into the pause in play in pretty rough shape. The hosts have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions while Stoke had won just two of their last seven. Both teams are struggling for goals too, the hosts have scored just 13 goals over their 11 home Championship games this season while the Potters have scored 11 over their 11 away games.
The home side have failed to score in two of their last five in the league and share the same stat on home soil, scoring just four goals over their last five. Stoke have also failed to score in two of their last five in the league. BTTS has only landed in one of their last five meetings at Ashton Gate and you just know with those goal-scoring stats that one of these sides is going to draw a blank here. Both Teams to Score, No has the value.
Burnley v Middlesbrough – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
Burnley are now three points ahead of Sheffield United at the top of the Championship table and were impressive in their 3-0 dismissal of QPR on the road last Sunday Sunday. They’ve very much been in the goals this season, scoring 43 goals over their 22 league games and have scored at least two in seven of their last eight fixtures in all competitions. At Turf Moor they’ve won five from five in the Championship, scoring 13 goals over those five fixtures.
Middlesbrough got their restart off to the best possible start, beating Luton by 2-1 and Boro have now won four of their last five fixtures, drawing the other, scoring 11 goals. On their travels Michael Carrick’s side have won four, losing the other one, scoring a total of 12 while conceding five. With both teams in such robust form we have to go with putting BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals into one punt here.
Huddersfield v Watford – Both Teams to Score, No
Huddersfield are in quite a bit of bother, they’re four points behind Watford at the bottom of the table and have won just two of their last seven Championship clashes. Of their last five, they’ve won one, drawn one and lost three while at home have won two, drawn one and lost two, scoring just three goals while conceding three and over their last five league games scored in just two matches.
Watford have won two, drawn two and lost one over their last five, while on the road have won two, drawn one and lost two, scoring just four goals while conceding seven. Hard to see a goalfest here and with neither in great goal-scoring form we reckon one will fail to hit the back of the net.
Hull v Sunderland – Both Teams to Score
Hull are struggling of late too, they’re just a point above the relegation zone and have won just one of their last six Championship matches, drawing two and losing three in the others. Of their last five at home they’ve been terrible, winning one and losing four, scoring four goals while conceding nine.
Sunderland have been decent of late, winning three of their last five, losing the other two while on their travels have won two, drawn one and lost two, scoring six and conceding six. While Hull’s scoring record isn’t ideal, the Blades have only kept just one clean sheet over their last six on their travels so we’re backing both sides to hit the back of the net here.
Preston v QPR – Both Teams to Score, No
Preston have been in great form of late, winning four and losing just one of their last five, scoring a very healthy 11 goals while at Deepdale have won three and lost two, scoring six while conceding seven. QPR are plummeting down the Championship table of late, they’re winless over their six in the league, collecting just one point from a possible 18 and on their travels have won one, drawn one and lost three, scoring just two goals while conceding seven. QPR aren’t scoring here, they’ve failed to score in four of their last five and in all three of their most recent away games, BTTS, No has the value for this one.
