Burnley continue their push for promotion when the Championship returns this weekend and must travel south to London to take on QPR on Sunday at lunchtime. Both sides have had about a month of rest and the away side will be eager to keep their good recent form going. QPR, on the other hand, went into the break on the wrong side of some results but their home form has seen them losing just three games this season in the league. Let’s get into the stats then and find the Three Best Bets for this Championship clash.

Sunday, December 11: 1pm – QPR v Burnley
TV: Sky Sports

Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

Now for anyone who hasn’t been following the Championship this season this stat might come as a surprise; Burnley are the top scorers in England’s second tier. Sean Dyche’s hoofball has been replaced by Vincent Kompany’s possession football and they now feed the ball to the wings and their creative players in midfield and it’s obviously paying dividends. Six of their last eight Championship games have seen Over 2.5 Goals occurring and they won six of those fixtures too. While on the road we’ve seen Overs in two of their last three as well.

Ranger’s form going into the break was, well, there’s no sugar-coating it, terrible, losing four and drawing one after a run that had seen them winning six of their previous eight games. Their home form saw them winning three of their last five in the Championship, losing the other two with Overs landing in four of those five games. The hosts have scored eight over their last five at home in the league while the Clarets chalked up nine over their last five on the road. With those stats you’d have to expect both teams to score here and at least three goals.

Over 0.5 First Half Goals for QPR

Yes, we’ve said that QPR’s form going into the break was bad but there’s a lovely stat here that’s pointed us towards some incredible value. Rangers are leading the Championship scoring charts when it comes to First Half goals, scoring 13 over their 10 home games this campaign while Burnley are very much a side who do most of their work in the second period of play, scoring 23 goals Second Half goals in total but only scoring eight FH goals on their travels.

The Clarets have kept three FH clean sheets over their last six away Championship games and just four FH clean sheets over their last seven overall games meaning the odds here are in our favour as they’re still well above Evens going into the game, particularly as the hosts have scored a FH goal in six of their last eight league games played at Loftus Road.

Jack Cork to be Shown a Card

Jack Cork loves a card and he’s outperforming himself this season; gathering up seven in the Championship already, equally his joint-highest total for seasons 2016/17 at Swansea and 2017/18 for Burnley. Cork’s role hasn’t really changed much under new boss Kompany, he’s still there to break up the play of opponents although now instead of getting the ball long into space for forwards to try and get on to he now usually plays it forward to Josh Brownhill who has had a hand in 10 goals this season or wide to Benson Maneul, Anass Zaroury or sideways to Josh Cullen for him to play it to the forward players. He’s still the enforcer though and while his defensive-midfield partner Cullen has only collected two Yellow Cards so far, Cork has seven from his 18 starts this season and we have him as the most likely to have his name taken against a QPR midfield who’ll be eager to get three points on the board on home turf.
