Brazil win
The big news ahead of Brazil v Switzerland is Neymar being ruled out until the knockout round. It’s obviously a huge loss, with the PSG man playing the No.10 role against Serbia and most of his country’s attacking build-up going through him. If coach Tite wants to stick with the same formation, we will likely see Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes or Fred of Man Utd come in to replace him.
Brazil probably surprised a few people in the opening game in their ability to control the game, keeping nearly 60% possession, having 24 shots and limiting a very good Serbia side to just four shots, none of them being on target. Their opponents have been predicted to go quite far in the tournament, but Brazil proved they are worthy favourites to win this tournament with that performance.
Richarlison was the man who got the two goals, but in all honesty, they could have had four or five on the night. It will be interesting to see if they can replicate that performance against a well-balanced Switzerland side here.
They did what they had to do against Cameroon, securing a 1-0 win through Breel Embolo – their biggest threat in attacking areas. Their midfield is slightly stronger than Serbia’s, with Granit Xhaka, Djibril Sow and Remo Freuler keeping a strong shape. Serbia generally had two players in midfield, allowing Brazil to win that midfield battle, so this game may play out slightly differently, especially with Neymar absent.
Even without him, Brazil look to be far and away the best side in this group. They controlled their opening game with ease, and they should have the bulk of the chances again in this game. Even if they are struggling to break the Swiss down, they have a huge depth of attacking talent on their bench to look to. The price on them to win the game has drifted slightly since the Neymar injury news, so I think it’s worth getting with them now, and possibly looking at handicaps as singles as well.
Silvan Widmer: 2+ fouls
While Neymar will be missing, Brazil still have huge quality in attack, in particular in wide areas. Vinicius Junior looked dangerous against Serbia, and loves taking his man on and using his blistering pace. He is a defenders nightmare, and gets his opposite number booked on many occasions when he drives at them.
With Brazil playing that midfield three here, they will look to get at Switzerland in wide areas, so Vinicius should have plenty of opportunity to take on Silvan Widmer. I’d look at the fouls market, and if you fancy something at slightly longer odds the ‘to be booked’ market.

Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri: 1+ Shot on Target each
With Brazil likely keeping more of the ball in this game, and being a very difficult team to break down, it may force Switzerland to try a few shots from range.
Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri are two players who like to take on shots from distance, and with them being from range they are less likely to hit the target. I’d maybe look at both of these players having 1+ shot in the game.
Raphinha: To score or assist
Tite seems to be a big fan of Raphinha, and while he was slightly wasteful in front of goal against Serbia, who was one of Brazil’s most creative players and found himself through on goal more than once.
He didn’t manage to assist or score against Serbia, but if he’s as involved in this game I think he should have a big say in Brazil scoring a few here.
