World Cup Group A Betting Tips

The weakest group on paper, Group A will almost certainly come down to a battle between Netherlands and Senegal for top spot. The Dutch have improved greatly from their nadir of missing out on Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018 and appear to have a squad that can go far in the competition. They are too good to be considered a dark horse but they could cause a shock or two by knocking out some of the more fancied teams to win the World Cup

Senegal, on the other hand, will be hoping Sadio Mane can return to fitness in time for their group campaign. If he doesn’t, the NETHERLANDS should win this group at a canter. If he does, the Dutch should still win the group, albeit they will be made to sweat a lot more.

World Cup Group B Betting Tips

England find themselves in a similar group to the infamous EASY group of 2010 when they famously failed to top the group and crashed out against Germany in the Last 16. They should avoid the catastrophe of failing to top their group this time around but it wouldn’t be surprising to see a turgid 0-0 draw thrown in there.

Gareth Southgate’s side face Carlos Queiroz’s Iran in their opening game of the tournament in what is sure to be one of the dullest games of the entire World Cup. Truthfully, it wouldn’t be surprising to see ENGLAND replicate their Euro 2020 group stage record of two 1-0 wins and a 0-0 draw. Given their Nations League form, they would gladly take that.

World Cup Group C Betting Tips

Many people’s pick to win the World Cup, ARGENTINA are the clear favourites to win Group C for a reason. There is a clear gulf in class between Messi & Co. and the rest of the group. Argentina are undefeated in 35 games and will set a new world record if they go undefeated in the group stages.

They shouldn’t have any problems doing so. Mexico, who have been knocked out in the Last 16 in their last seven appearances at the World Cup, should join Argentina in the knockout stages.

World Cup Group D Betting Tips

France enter this tournament as defending champions which is not a good thing based on recent history. The last four European holders have all been dumped out in the group stage, including themselves in 2002.

They enter this tournament in the midst of a mini-injury crisis with some French journalists voicing concerns about a repeat of 2002. They find themselves in a group sufficiently easy enough to ensure they avoid another humiliating exit but may play second fiddle to a formidable Danish outfit.

DENMARK have been excellent over the past two years, reaching the Euro 2020 semi-final and winning nine out of ten qualifying games, only losing to Scotland in their last game when qualification was already assured. They also beat France home and away in their Nations League campaign earlier in the year and could do so again.

World Cup Group E Betting Tips

Group E is essentially a flip of a coin between two European heavyweights: Spain and Germany. The two countries are the only teams to be managed by Champions League-winning managers, with both playing the most clearly defined systems of any competing nations at the World Cup.

Luis Enrique’s SPAIN appear to be a little bit more developed than Hansi Flick’s Germany and arguably boast a slightly stronger squad, especially in defence and midfield. They should have just about enough to top Group E and avoid a potential Last 16 match against Belgium.

World Cup Group F Betting Tips

Group F will also likely come down to a toss-up between two European nations, although BELGIUM should have too much for Croatia. This really does feel like the last stand for Belgium’s golden generation, considering Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku will be well into their mid-30s by the time the 2026 World Cup rolls around.

Croatia’s golden generation peaked at the World Cup four years ago and despite topping their Nations League group earlier in the year they are not the same team that broke English hearts in Russia. Their performance at Euro 2020 was decidedly mediocre and it would be surprising if they managed to finish above a strong Belgium outfit this time around.

World Cup Group G Betting Tips

Brazil are tournament favourites for a reason. The five-time winners boast incredible depth throughout their squad except, perhaps, in the full-back positions and should have far too much for Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon in Group G.

They topped a group with Switzerland and Serbia at Russia 2018, drawing with Switzerland and beating Serbia. They have improved over the last four years but so have the European pair, who topped qualifying groups ahead of Portugal and Italy respectively.

However, BRAZIL have not failed to top a World Cup group since 1978 and have not lost a group stage game since France 1998. They are unlikely to buck either trend at the upcoming World Cup given the strength of their squad.

World Cup Group H Betting Tips

The most even of all eight groups, Group H looks like being the most fun group of the tournament. Portugal are favourites to top the group, but is that favourite tag merited? They were average in qualifying, deservedly finishing below Serbia in Group A, while they have not topped a group at the World Cup or the Euros since 2006, a run spanning seven international tournaments.

URUGUAY, on the other hand, have greatly improved since Diego Alonso took over as manager last December and are a genuine dark horse in the competition especially if Fede Valverde can carry over his scintillating club form. Uruguay knocked out Portugal in Russia four years ago and could well pip them to top spot in Group H at this year’s tournament.
