FA Cup Replay
Monday night sees the replay of the FA Cup match between Chelmsford City and Barnet. The hosts have midfielder Charlier Ruff to thank for forcing a replay after his diving header in the 92nd minute and goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri too for pulling off some massive saves to keep them in the game earlier on. We’ve gone through the stats and form for all involved here and found the Three Best Bets for this FA Cup replay.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
Both Teams to Score, No Draw
The previous meeting between the sides, played on Guy Fawkes, was a ding-dong affair. Barnet had the majority of the better chances but thanks to some really high quality goalkeeping from the aforementioned Ejeheri the visitors were always in with a shout being 1-0 down. Up popped midfielder Charlie Ruff with a diving header from a corner deep into injury time and City get another bite at the cherry here on home soil.
Barnet should be favourites here on paper, although not in the betting odds, as they’re higher up the football pyramid, plying their trade in the National League while the hosts play in the National League South, which is one level below although there’s also the National League North which is the same level and the North one. OK, English football pyramid lesson over, back to the match.
Both teams have been in very strong goal-scoring form of late with the home side scoring nine goals over their last five at home while the visitors have scored a grand total of 16 while on their recent travels. We’d have to expect both teams to score then but from those 10 combined home v away games only one has ended level so we’re getting some pretty tasty value here in the BTTS, No Draw market.
Over 3.5 Goals
By backing BTTS, No Draw we’re obviously predicting there will be at least three goals here. But we can go one further on the back of those impressive goal-scoring stats. Chelmsford have scored at least two goals in five of their last seven home fixtures and the away side have scored at least two in seven of their last 10 on their travels and with this being a cup game it’s do-or-die for both sides.
The winner will travel to League One’s Accrington Stanley on the last Saturday of the month and that should be plenty of motivation for both teams to go for broke here and that means goals galore.
A Goal Scored in Both Halves
While not as high odds as the other two picks there’s still plenty of value in this one. Four of Chelmsford’s last five home games would have seen this bet land and it also would have landed in six out of Barnet’s last 10 away games. Over their 17 home league games this season we’ve seen 10 First Half goals and 17 Second Half goals in Chelmsford games while for Barnet the stats read as 19 FH and 27 SH goals in their 10 away games. We should certainly then see plenty of action in both halves so we’re backing a Goals to be Scored in Both Halves.
