Saturday 12.30pm: Manchester City v Brentford
LAWRO: The way Manchester City are at the moment they’re just dispatching teams. On a bad day they might only win 1-0 or 2-0, on a good day it’s 4-0 or 5-0. It’s a free hit for Brentford but you can’t see them getting anything. Manchester City 4-0 Brentford.
RESULT: Manchester City 1-2 Brentford
Saturday 3pm: Bournemouth v Everton
LAWRO: Bournemouth did Everton 4-1 in the Carabao Cup the other night but this will be closer. I think Frank Lampard would have kicked some a*se in that Everton changing room. They changed their team a lot for that game but I’ll go for a dour draw this time around. Bournemouth 1-1 Everton.
RESULT: Bournemouth 3-0 Everton
Saturday 3pm: Liverpool v Southampton
LAWRO: I don’t think Nathan Jones is going to be able to have too much of an immediate impact. The problem with Southampton is that it feels like they haven’t won for ages and it will take him a while to get his feet under the table. I don’t see Southampton getting anything at Anfield. Liverpool 2-0 Southampton.
RESULT: Liverpool 3-1 Southampton
Saturday 3pm: Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace
LAWRO: I love watching Crystal Palace play. They’ve got such freedom and they’ll have confidence from nicking that game against West Ham at the death last time. Forest got a point last time but they’re struggling to get wins. Nottingham Forest 1-2 Crystal Palace.
RESULT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Crystal Palace
Saturday 3pm: Tottenham v Leeds
LAWRO: Both went out of the Carabao during the week but you know that when you play against Leeds it’s going to be difficult as you have to match them physically. Tottenham are having a bit of a wobble but I don’t see anything other than a home win. Tottenham 2-0 Leeds.
RESULT: Tottenham 4-3 Leeds
Saturday 3pm: West Ham v Leicester
LAWRO: West Ham need a win. Leicester won last week and they look to be turning it around. Things are getting a but restless at West Ham so they need something. West Ham 1-0 Leicester.
RESULT: West Ham 0-2 Leicester
Saturday 5.30pm: Newcastle v Chelsea
LAWRO: Newcastle are absolutely rampant at the moment and they’ve made themselves very difficult to play against and score against. They’re playing with a lot of freedom and I think they’ll win this one. The other thing with Newcastle is that they’re big and strong and you’ve got to fight them. Chelsea are wobbling at the moment I really don’t fancy them here. Newcastle 2-1 Chelsea.
RESULT: Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea
Saturday 7.45pm: Wolves v Arsenal
LAWRO: Arsenal, I thought, were excellent at Chelsea and should have won by more than one. Their good form continues, they’re getting goals from all sorts of different areas, they’re really good at the back and just look a fluent football team at the moment. Wolves 0-2 Arsenal.
RESULT: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
Sunday 2pm: Brighton v Aston Villa
LAWRO: Unai Emery had a really good start with the win in the league over Manchester United but it was roles reversed on Thursday. Brighton are very difficult to predict, especially at home. I like the look of Roberto De Zerbi but Emery’s a very, very good manager as well. Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa.
RESULT: Brighton 1-2 Aston Villa
Sunday 4.30pm: Fulham v Manchester United
LAWRO: I’m still not convinced by Manchester United because they throw the odd defeat in like they did at Villa. Erik ten Hag’s still got a lot to do and Fulham were unlucky right at the end against Manchester City last weekend. United are showing improvement though and I see them winning at Fulham. Fulham 0-2 Manchester United.
RESULT: Fulham 1-2 Man Utd
LAWRO V PUNTER CHALLENGE
So, you’ve heard what Mark Lawrenson has to say, but can this week’s Paddy Power punter take down our game-guessing guru with their Premier League predictions for this weekend?
If you don’t know what we’re talking about, where have you been? Every Premier League matchday we’re putting up at least £/€50 – more if there’s a rollover – to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in guessing the outcome of that week’s games.
And Paddy’s punters are on fire with Stewart the West Ham fan the latest to take the loot. It means we’re back to a £/€50 prize pot and this time it’s Tadgh the Manchester United fan from Dublin having a crack at the king.
Here’s his Premier League predictions for the games between 12th-13th November!
Manchester City 2-0 Brentford
Bournemouth 1-1 Everton
Liverpool 3-2 Southampton
Nottingham Forest 1-3 Crystal Palace
Tottenham 1-0 Leeds
West Ham 1-2 Leicester
Newcastle 3-1 Chelsea
Wolves 1-2 Arsenal
Brighton 2-3 Aston Villa
Fulham 0-1 Manchester United
RESULTS
It’s a tie! Lawro scored seven points from one correct score (Wolves 0-2 Arsenal) and four correct results. Tadgh got seven correct results, but no correct scores.
That means that Lawro takes the victory by virtue of that one correct score against nil from our plucky punter. It means we’ll have €/£100 on the line when Lawro’s Premier League predictions returns after the World Cup for the Boxing Day fixtures.
