7.45pm: Juventus v Inter Milan – Juventus to Win
TV: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
We’ll kick off our Sunday night Euro footy acca with a meaty Serie A clash where Inter Milan travel to face Juventus in the Derby d’Italia. These two have been a little underwhelming this season and find themselves in 6th and 8th respectively.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
Both come into this game off the back of Champions League losses but Inter’s overall form is better with six wins, a draw and a loss in their last eight. The Old Lady have won four and lost four over the same timeframe. Inter have won four and lost eight in Serie A this term with three of those coming on the road.
Juventus have been pretty good at home with 14 points taken from their six games at the Allianz and they’re yet to taste defeat in front of their own fans domestically this term. Inter are the favs but with those corresponding home and away records I think we’re getting great value in siding with a bit of an upset and the Juventus Win.
7.45pm: Marseille v Lyon – Over 2.5 Goals
TV: BT Sport 2
We’re off to France next for another derby in the shape of Choc des Olympiques or the Clash of the Olympics to you and me. Marseille host Lyon with both struggling to find the kind of form they’d want or expect.
The visitors have staged something of a recovery with two wins in their last two following five losses and a draw in the proceeding six matches. Marseille crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday and have now won just one of their last seven in all competitions with a draw and five losses.
It’s a tricky problem to solve, this game. You might be tempted to side with Lyon on recent form but they’ve taken just four points from their six away Ligue 1 games this term. Marseille’s home haul of 11 from six is far superior but they’ve fallen off a cliff in the last month.
Swerving the result then, I think the best way to play this might be by backing goals. Both are scoring an conceding plenty with 22 for apiece and Marseille conceding 11 and Lyon 16. It all boils down to an average of 2.73 goals a game so we’ll side with Over 2.5 Goals in this one.
8pm: Real Betis v Sevilla – Under 2.5 Goals
TV: Viaplay Sports 1 and LaLigaTV
La Liga’s up next and its the unlikely relegation battlers Sevilla, who sit in 18th, heading to Betis who are 4th. This looks an open and shut home win but let’s take a dive into the numbers as some of them are a little surprising.
Sevilla have only lost one of their four away games and that was at the hands of the mighty Real Madrid. However, Betis are lethal at home and have the second-best record in front of their own supporters in the division with 15 points from their six games at the Benito Villamarín.
I suspect Betis will win this one but, as they lost their last home game and with Sevilla’s gradual improvement factored in, I think Under 2.5 Goals could be the better play. Unders has landed in four of Betis’ last six in La Liga and six of Sevilla’s last seven.
8.30pm: Estoril v Benfica – Benfica to Win to Nil
TV: BT Sport 3
We’ll finish in Portugal where Ertoril are set to be the next team to fall under the Benfica steam roller. The away side here have won 10 of their 11 Primeira Liga games this season and remain unbeaten. They’ve scored 29 goals and conceded just five so far.
Estoril, for their part, are 9th with 16 points from 11 games and are closer to the bottom of the table’s tally than they are Benfica’s. The Eagles have only conceded in three league games this season and I fancy them to get another clean sheet here.
The hosts are pretty regular scorers but they’re only bagged 12 in their 11 games this season. With Benfica huge favourites we’re getting a good price on Benfica to Win to Nil, as they have on eight occasions already this season.
