It’s crunch time in the Champions League as we reach the final round of group matches – and we’ve picked a Bet Builder from two games on Tuesday night…
My favourite thing about this group, bar the points totals all being so close, is that even the goal difference is close – meaning a single game can completely flip it.
It suggests there are tight-knit games, but actually it’s more indicative of teams being incredibly inconsistent and being hammered one week, then running out convincing winners the week after.
Given the extra layer of tension ahead of this one, anyone suggesting both of these teams are likely to net needs a sanity check.
Spurs and the Draw
It’s just the value play here, especially given that Marseille are coming into this in an awful run of form.
Marseille have taken advantage of just having better players than Sporting – their two wins in this group coming in their fixtures against the Portuguese outfit, but in the month of October, they’ve lost two-one to Ajaccio, failed to score against PSG, lost one-nil to Lens and conceded two very late goals last weekend to be pegged back by Strasbourg.
For all that we laugh at Spurs, EPL problems are overblown in Europe.
Rangers look totally overmatched here and that’s fine. Nobody is expecting them to compete at this level, even accounting for the explosive nature of their run to the Europa League final last year.
Their lone goal in this group came at Ibrox where they went on to ship seven. I don’t think we need to spend too long on this.
Brian Brobbey to Score Anytime
Remember the name. He’s twenty years old and he’s netted eight times despite starting just seven games for Ajax in the league. He’s also got a freakish underage record for the Netherlands, scoring sixteen times in twenty-four games.
Only having four sub appearances in this competition to date, with the pressure off in this one, I expect him to get the start and prove a point.
