Brighton v Chelsea
Saturday, 3pm
Usually when a manager leaves, they’ve been sacked and teams get a bounce when the new one comes in.
But when someone’s “moved up”, it’s often difficult for whoever takes over to come in and continue their good form.
And it’s also a bit of a shock when a manager leaves like that too, so Brighton’s performances might’ve dipped since Graham Potter departed.
They are a good side though and it’s just a matter of time before it starts clicking under Roberto De Zerbi.
At Chelsea though, their old boss has had a really good start.
I’ve spoken to some of the players there and they’ve been really impressed with his approach and attention to detail.
Chelsea to Win
He’d never been in the Champions League and he’s gone to this massive club so there were some questions being asked of him, but he’s answered those straight away. He looks like he’s readymade for a big job like this.
And he’s not afraid to make big decisions and make changes when needed during games, and they’ve worked.
I’d expect this to be an open game given the two managers like their teams to play, and they’re both good sides, but I’d expect Chelsea to get the result on the day.
Leandro Trossard to have 1+ Shots on Target
Getting goals has been Brighton’s problem over the last few seasons. They don’t have that killer finish in them all the time.
I’m a big fan of Leandro Trossard though. He’s got a few goals this season already and will be a threat for them.
Mason Mount to have 1+ Shots on Target
Mason Mount’s playing really well at the moment and he stands out as a threat as a possible goalscorer or provider for Chelsea.
He’s worth looking at for an attempt on target at least.
Liverpool v Leeds
Saturday, 7:45pm, Live on Sky Sports Main Event
After losing to Forest having beaten City and West Ham, I think Liverpool just need to hold on to the other big clubs until the World Cup.
With Diaz out, Jota out and a few other injuries, along with their dip in form, they could come back in January and aim for trophies in the second half of the season.
Leeds are going through a tough run of their own though. It’s difficult to say why. They lost Raphinha in the summer and I’m not sure he’s been replaced. They’ve had injuries and some players out of form.
Things look like they might need freshening up there. They’re miles off it at the moment – even the manager’s said this is the worst run he’s ever been on.
He’ll hope this a chance to get some confidence back – if you can put in a performance against a stronger side it can be a catalyst for improvement.
And even with Liverpool’s win in midweek, Ajax probably should’ve scored two or three in the first half as they were getting up chances.
Alternative Handicap: Liverpool -1
But when you’ve got all the attacking ability Liverpool have, you’re always going to get chances.
I do think they’ll have too much for Leeds on Saturday and I would think they’ll dominate the game. I could see them winning by 3 or 4.
Nunez got a goal against Ajax, and missed a big chance too, but at least he’s got a few goals despite the criticism, and I’d expect him to go on a run once he gets that bit of confidence.
But Mo Salah is the clearest goal threat for Liverpool still, and penalty duty for him also could see him score in a game I expect Liverpool to dictate.
With Liverpool controlling the game and Leeds struggling, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few rash challenges and the visitors should pick up a few cards.
