Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson knows a thing or two about European glory and he’s back once more to give you a tasty treble for Wednesday’s Champions League action. He’s running the rule over Liverpool’s trip to Ajax, Spurs hosting Sporting and Atletico Madrid’s must-win match with Bayer Leverkusen.
There’s just two games left for everyone in the group stage so we’re approaching squeaky-bum time now. Some clubs are safely through while others are teetering on the brink of elimination.

Now, along with knowing a thing or two about European glory, our Thommo clearly knows a thing or two about picking treble winners too.
He lashed in our turbo-charged 5/1 treble on Saturday afternoon and he’s here once again on the hunt for a winning punt.
Thommo’s Treble
On Wednesday night I’m including two teams who need to prove something after the weekend. Liverpool lost against Forest after putting together great wins back-to-back over Manchester City and West Ham. They’ll want to bounce back from that against Ajax in Amsterdam on Wednesday and Jurgen Klopp will have rattled a few of them after the weekend.
Similarly for Spurs, they lost at home to Newcastle and Antonio Conte will not be happy with that. It was a bit contentious but he won’t want to make excuses for the result and will also need to see a response from his team against Sporting Lisbon.
Finally, I’d go for Atletico Madrid to beat Bayer Leverkusen. Diego Simeone’s side is desperate for a win in this group with just four points from their first four games. I think they’ll get it on Wednesday night against a Leverkusen team struggling at home and in Europe.
