7.30pm: Fulham v Aston Villa – Over 2.5 Goals

TV: Amazon Prime Video

It’s an unusual footballing landscape on Thursday night with a couple of Premier League games, some Italian cup action and La Liga, as well as a bunch of lesser Euro leagues and women’s Champions League action on offer. We’ve gone through the games to unearth a fab four fold to keep you warm in the absence of our beloved Europa League.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

First up it’s Fulham v Aston Villa in the Premier League with the Cottagers in 11th and their visitors down in 16th. These two are going about their business in very different ways with Fulham fans witnessing a monster 36 goals (that’s both for and against) in their 10 matches so far and Villa scoring just seven and conceding 13.

Fulham have scored more than double (16) that of Villa’s haul so far but, given how bad their defence is, you’d expect even the toothless Villa (two goals in their last four games) to bag here. Despite Villa’s numbers, it’s got to be Over 2.5 Goals. This is a bet that’s clicked in nine of Fulham’s 10 games this term and we’ll hope the madness continues.

8pm: Barcelona v Villarreal – Barcelona Win & Under 3.5 Goals

TV: Premier Sports 2 and LaLigaTV

Barcelona will be looking to bounce back from their 3-1 Classico defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend against Villarreal on Thursday night. Prior to Sunday’s disappointment the Catalan lever merchants had only conceded one La Liga goal in eight matches.

Now there’s only one side with a better defence than them and, oh look, that team is Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine have only received three direct hits this campaign and they’re 7th with 15 points from their nine matches.

You might be surprised then to read that Villarreal have only won one of their last five in the league, losing two and drawing the other two. Despite that setback last time I think we can be confident of Barcelona’s good domestic form continuing and for them to win.

It’s interesting to note that Barca have only scored one goal in each of their last three and that they may struggle to score more than that against their opponents’ excellent defence. Villarreal, for their part, have only scored two in their last three so expect a low scoring home triumph with Barcelona to Win and Under 3.5 Goals.

8pm: Bologna v Cagliari – Both Teams to Score

We’ve a Coppa Italia game to contend with next as Cagliari head to Bologna. It could be sweet relief from a poor Serie A and B campaigns for both with each struggling in their respective divisions.

Bologna are just outside the Serie A drop zone in 17th while Cagliari are only 8th in Serie B. The hosts have won just one game in the league this season while the underdogs have four wins, two draws and three losses so far.

Cagliari’s form is all over the shop with no real defined threads running though their Overs/Unders, W-D-W and Both Teams to Score. However, as it’s a cup match and the pressure’s off, both might go out to enjoy themselves away from the stresses and strains of league football so I will plump for Both Teams to Score.

8.15pm: Leicester v Leeds – Under 2.5 Goals

TV: Amazon Prime Video

We finish with two sides in woeful in England and it’s Leicester v Leeds. Leicester trudged their way through a turgid 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last time out while it was a slightly unlucky 1-0 loss to Arsenal for Leeds.

The Foxes are 19th with five points from 10 games and Jesse Marsch’s madcats are 15th with four points more and one fewer game played. Leeds are without a win in five while Brendan Rodgers’ boys have won just once all season, drawing twice and losing seven times.

I can’t bring myself to trust either to get a positive result here. I genuinely think anything could happen but I think the most likely outcome might be another cagy performance from The Foxes as they look to build some defensive solidarity which has been sorely missing up until a few weeks ago.

As it goes, they’ve only conceded two goals in their last three matches. Leeds have also seen a big drop in their goals per game recently so I’ll take a bit of a chance on a drab, defensive clash with Under 2.5 Goals.
