There’s some live footie action this Monday night to ease that Monday blues.

This week, we’ve got action from England, Italy and Spain – starting in the Serie A as Jose Mourinho’s Roma travel to Sampdoria.

That’s followed up by Lecce hosting Fiorentina, before our attention turns to the 8pm kick-offs in Spain, where Villareal play Osasuna, and League One, where The Valley plays host to Charlton v Pompey.

Here’s a cheeky acca for Monday’s games…

17:30 – Sampdoria v Roma: Roma to win & BTTS

TV: BT Sport 2

The team from Genoa sit rock bottom of the Serie A table, with just three points (all draws) from their nine games so far this season. Roma, meanwhile, have been in good from in the Italian top division, occupying sixth place, and sitting above heavyweights Juventus & Inter Milan. They’ll have to brush off the disappointment of Thursday night’s draw with Real Betis in the Europa League, though.

At home, Sampdoria have drawn twice and lost three times this season, although one of those draws was a 0-0 stalemate with Juve, in a game representing their only clean sheet of the season. On the road, Roma have picked up 10 points from their five games, and have won their last two games. Despite being away from home, they’re clear favourites.

The play is Roma to win and both teams to score. BTTS has come through in three of Roma’s last four games, and five out of Sampdoria’s past six. These two teams haven’t kept a clean sheet since August, and we’re backing that to continue in this one.

19:45 – Lecce v Fiorentina: Fiorentina double chance

TV: BT Sport 2

Fiorentina put Hearts to the sword during the week with a 5-1 win, but their domestic form hasn’t been of the same vein. They’ve won just twice this season in the league, and have five points from their last five games, as they sat 14th in the table before this weekend’s fixtures.

Lecce sit just above the relegation places with only one win all season. But, they have only lost once at home this season, with the other three being draws – so another stalemate shouldn’t be ruled out here.

That’s why we’re backing Fiorentina double chance – on paper, they are the better side, and should avoid defeat in this one, especially as they’ll have an extra spring in their step following their midweek victory.

20:00 – Charlton v Portsmouth: BTTS

TV: Sky Sports Football

It’s fourteenth versus sixth in League One, as these two former Premier League sides meet at The Valley. Charlton have only won three times all season, but all three have been at their home ground. Their record at The Valley the season is pretty good, unbeaten at home with twelve points from six games.

Pompey have stuttered a little since a draw with Plymouth ended their six match winning streak, with just one subsequent point from those next two games. Away from Fratton Park, they’ve picked up a respectable ten points from five games, but lost last time out on the road.

We’re backing Both Teams To Score in this one. Charlton have kept just two clean sheets all season, and failed to score just twice. BTTS would have come through in nine out of their last ten games. For Pompey, BTTS has come through in each of their last three, and in seven of their 11 matches this season. It’s tough to split these two sides, so BTTS will do it for us.

20:00 – Villarreal v Osasuna: Under 2.5 goals

TV: Premier Sports 1

These two sides sit next to each other in the league tables, occupying ninth and eighth place respectively. The home side’s strong start to the season (10 points from first four games) has trailed off, as they’ve accrued just two points from their next four games. They’ve only played twice at home, though, and remain unbeaten at Estadio de la Cerámica, with four points.

Osasuna may not have expected to be quite so high in the table after their first eight games, and showed their strength by taking a point at the Santiago Bernabéu two weeks ago. That’s one of their four points away from home from three games, which is a reasonable return.

But the play we’re picking is under 2.5 goals. There’s been no more than two goals in each of Villarreal’s last four games, whilst the away side have yet to clock over 2.5 goals in a game on the road this season. If this form continues, then the unders option is a solid shout.
