WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Manchester United (-2)

Manchester United were given a real scare in Cyprus last week, coming from a goal down to avoid a humiliating upset in Europe’s secondary competition. They are unlikely to experience such a scare again, however. United should have been out of sight by the time Omonia took the lead last week, missing several gilt-edged chances before presenting their opponents with an opportunity on the counter. Omonia supporters had previously cheered a corner as if it were a goal.

United should be more settled playing in front of their own supporters on Thursday and it would be hugely surprising if they didn’t win this at a canter. They created plenty of chances while playing in a hostile environment last week and there is no reason to think that they aren’t capable of doing so again at home. Omonia, on the other hand, may struggle to carve out the kind of chances they did last Thursday without the benefit of home support.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

Marcus Rashford helped save United’s blushes last week, scoring twice off the bench to turn the game on its head. He has been in excellent form for United this season, matching his tally for last season after just nine appearances. He could have bettered it already had it not been for an incredibly harsh decision to overrule his goal against Everton on Sunday.

Rashford clearly has the tools to hurt Omonia and is likely to feature on Thursday following Anthony Martial’s latest injury setback. He is good value to find the back of the net against Omonia for the second week running.

Scott McTominay to be Shown a Card

Scott McTominay is excellent value to pick up a card on Thursday night considering he has just been suspended from United’s next Premier League game after accumulating five yellow cards in just six league starts. It was quite astonishing how quickly McTominay managed to collect a yellow card on Sunday after being brought on as a substitute at Goodison Park. The Scottish midfielder seems to be some form of yellow card magnet and can always be relied upon to make his way into the referee’s notebook.

He is also likely to feature against Omonia given that United have three make-or-break league games in the space of ten days following Thursday’s game. Erik ten Hag will surely want his team at its freshest for the visit of Newcastle on Sunday and it makes sense that he would start a player that can play no part in that game.

Jadon Sancho Anytime Assist

Jadon Sancho enjoyed a decent start to the season, scoring vital goals in the wins over Liverpool and Leicester. His stock has plummeted following his performance in the Manchester Derby at the beginning of October, however.

Sancho didn’t feature at all against Everton on Sunday and was hooked at half time against Omonia last Thursday. He is likely to feature from the start this Thursday, however, given ten Hag’s need to rotate.

Sancho has only registered three assists in his Manchester United career to date, but he should flourish on Thursday, with United almost guaranteed to dominate both possession and territory. He has averaged a key pass per game for United this season and it would be rather surprising if he didn’t do considerably better than average on Thursday night.
