Manchester City vs Manchester United – Sunday, 2:00pm
TV: Sky Sports Main Event

I think United have made some good steps this season, without a doubt. They looks miles better. Going into last year’s derby matches they would’ve been a lot more fearful than this year. There is hope for them.

Of course, there have been some disappointing games this season, but I think in recent weeks they’ve improved. They’ve beaten Leicester, Arsenal, Liverpool, these are difficult games. They’ve come through some tests and it’s definitely better than it was last year.

Last year, they were a bit of a laughing stock at times weren’t they?

But, you have to say, they’re miles off City. You just think City will be too strong.

I don’t think anyone in the world can contain Man City, I think you need a bit of luck against them. Yes, you can still be defensive, but they’ll still break you down, and create chances.

Stopping Erling Haaland is something that seems virtually impossible at the moment, he’s scoring in every single game.

I think United have done well and have improved. I like Lisandro Martinez as well, he’s done well, I just can’t see Haaland not scoring. It just looks like he’s running over people.

With City’s creativity, I think a lot of the time he doesn’t even need to touch the ball outside of the box, he just needs to focus on being in the box and there’s players there that will pick the right pass.

But he’s already struck up a great connection with Kevin De Bruyne and I can’t look past him for a goal or assist as well.

Sometimes it’s just the case of not getting frustrated, not worrying about the rest of play and just being there when it drops and that’s what Haaland seems to be so good at.

If United are going to get anything from this, the counter-attack looks like the best set-up for them. They’ve got pace, and players who can pick a pass and that’s crucial to that way of playing.

They can soak up pressure, and then Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes can play through some of the quicker players up front. If they can finish their chances, you can see how that would work, without a doubt. But, crucially, you’d like to think Pep Guardiola will have a game plan for that.

And they also won’t want to get dragged into a more “traditional” derby day fight, so I wouldn’t expect too many cards on the day.
