Wales and The Draw Double Chance

Wales head to Belgium on Thursday night for a League A Group 4 clash knowing that they really need a win if they’re to stay in the top tier of the Nations League. In reality though, they’ll be treating this as a super competitive friendly with the World Cup looming onto the horizon.

The Dragons have taken just one point from their four Nations League matches and have three to make up on Poland to avoid relegation. Belgium trail The Netherlands by three points with two to play at the top of the table but these two shared the spoils when they met in this tournament back in June.

History is indicating that Wales should get something out of this as Belgium have beaten them just once in their last seven meetings, a run going back to 2013. Over that time Wales have won two, Belgium just one, with four draws also on the record.

The Red Devils are huge favourites here but, given that run of results and the fact that Qatar is just a couple of months away, I think we can expect another strong Wales performance with everyone vying for a spot on the plane. At the price we’ll back the hosts to flatter to deceive once again and for Robert Page’s side to get something out of this one with Wales and The Draw Double Chance.

Under 2.5 Goals

Another theme when these two meet is a lack of goals. In their last eight matches there have been just 17 goals at an average of 2.13 per match with eight of those coming in two games.

Those two games were the only two in that run with Over 2.5 Goals giving us a 75% Unders click rate since 2012 between these two sides. If we take out those two outliers it’s just 1.5 Goals in the remaining six matches so everything is pointing towards Under 2.5 Goals here.

Brennan Johnson to Have 1 or More Shots on Target

Predicting who’s going to play could be a little more tricky but I suspect Wales will go for it here and worry about the rest of the international break’s matches later. I think that should mean we see Brennan Johnson getting a start.

He’ll be bursting away on the counter and looks great value to register a shot on target. He’s Wales’s top scorer in the Nations League this season so Johnston to Have 1 Or More Shots On Target feels a good play.

Youri Tielemans to Have 1 or More Shots on Target

One of Belgium’s key men in this Nations League has been Youri Tielemans. The Leicester midfielder might not be enjoying the best campaign with his club but he’s scored one and set up two so far for his country.

The goal he scored came in the 1-1 with Wales back in June and he looks nailed on to start here as well. He’s averaging 0.7 shots on target per 90 minutes for The Foxes and Tielemans might just pull the trigger from range to Have 1 or Mors Shots on Target against a compact Wales side on Thursday night.
