12:30pm: Aston Villa v Man City – Castellanos to Score Anytime

TV: BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website

The WSL is where its at, no matter how much we try and deny it. Yes, there’s been a tonne of money pumped into it, but that should be widespread rather than being seen as an influx. And I, for one, can only see the standard increasing this year as an influx of talent gets drawn to the league. Let’s take a look.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Deyna Castellanos is one of those recruits that Man City made in the offseason to try and keep up with the goalscoring exploits of both Chelsea and Arsenal. It’s no mean feat, but this piece of recruitment will have City fans wondering if she alone can be the difference in games where they fell short last year.

Probably a fair assessment, the WSL being top-heavy is probably what puts people off – but in reality, the games between the best sides aren’t too far between given the size of the league. The key thing in those games is growing confidence and hitting form at the right time.

If Castellanos plays, which her presence in the pre-match presser yesterday indicates she will, then people are about to learn that there’s a new prolific goalscorer in town. Castellanos to Score Anytime kicks us off.

3pm: Leicester v Spurs – Karczewska to Score Anytime

Spurs are the cutoff point in the WSL. If you’re better than them, you might find yourself in a title race. If you’re worse than them, you’re going to really struggle against the bigger sides.

Of all the sides below Manchester United in the league last year, Spurs felt like the ones primed to make that leap but their reliance on keeping it tight made them a predictable watch. Never likely to compete with top-end recruitment drives at City, Arsenal and Chelsea, Spurs looked further afield and found Nikola Karczewska whose nine goals in Ligue 1 last year were just one behind Ada Hegerberg.

She’s lethal in front of goal and could be signing that creeps them closer to United. It has to be Karczewska to Score Anytime.

3pm: West Ham v Everton – Snoeijs to Score Anytime

Toni Duggan was the marquee signing for Everton but her injuries have limited her impact. What they have now is some hope in the form of Katja Snoeijs to finally have a consistent goalscorer. Snoeijs was unlucky not to be included in the Dutch squad for the Euros this summer, but her move to the WSL is a testament to her impact in big games for Bordeaux.

This was the best signing any of the smaller clubs in the league made and I think she’ll have an instant impact. That impact will be Snoeijs to Score Anytime.
