Champions League favourites Manchester City travel to struggling La Liga outfit Sevilla in their opening group game of this season’s competition.
City have started the Premier League season relatively well, although uncharacteristically sloppy draws against Newcastle and Aston Villa will have been of some concern for Pep Guardiola. They have scored goals for fun in their opening six league games, scoring a whopping 20 goals so far.
The Premier League champions are averaging almost 3.5 goals per game and will cause plenty of problems for a Sevilla side that has taken just one solitary point in their opening four matches.
Sevilla were dismantled by Barcelona at the weekend in a 3-0 home defeat and have conceded eight goals in four outings at a rate of two per game. It would be hugely surprising if they didn’t suffer a similar defeat against City.
Erling Haaland to Score First
City and Erling Haaland have been a match made in heaven in the early days of the Norwegian’s career in Manchester.
Haaland has scored a staggering 10 goals in his opening six games, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
Ironically, the only game in which he has failed to score has been against Bournemouth, who have conceded more goals than any other Premier League side this season.
Haaland’s knack for goal is incredible and he is the obvious candidate to open the scoring on Tuesday night.
He has scored the first goal of the game in three of his six league appearances for City, while he scored City’s first goal in the come-from-behind win against Palace.
Haaland scored four times in two games against Sevilla in the Champions League knockout stages in 2021 and it would be far from surprising if he managed a similar feat this week.

Both Teams to Score
City’s defence looks like the only thing capable of preventing them from winning it all this season.
Guardiola’s side have looked incredibly vulnerable at the back in the early stages of the season, conceding six goals in six games.
They were routinely ripped apart against Newcastle and were arguably fortunate only to concede three goals, while Palace found a lot of joy against them to go 2-0 up.
Sevilla, who have scored in all but one of their league games this season, might just be able to hurt City.
Kevin De Bruyne Anytime Assist
It might seem a little simple to back Kevin De Bruyne to register an assist, but the Belgian midfielder has been so creative this season that he is hard to ignore.
De Bruyne has already registered four league assists this season, at least two more than any other City player, while he averages a staggering 3.5 key passes per game.
De Bruyne also attempts more than two crosses per game on average and seems to have already built a connection with Haaland.
City will score an obscene amount of goals if both Haaland and De Bruyne are on song this season and Sevilla could feel the impact of such form on Tuesday night.
