Thursday night’s footballing action has some meaty-looking fixtures lined up for us. We’ll be dipping our toes, in the search for value, into the Belgian Jupiler League where Anderlecht face Gent followed by a double bill in the Serie A where Atalanta take on Torino where both teams are undefeated so far this season while elsewhere Bologna encounter Salernitana at home. Finally then to the Premier League where bottom-of-the-league Leicester City welcome a resurgent Manchester United to the King Power.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

7.30pm: Anderlecht vs Gent – Anderlecht to Win

Anderlecht are now five games into their league season but have only managed to collect a total of nine points thanks to three wins and two losses, they’ve also played four Europa Conference League games, winning three and drawing one and winning that one on penalties. Gent have also played five league games, winning two, drawing two and losing one and lost the season-opening Super Cup to Club Brugge and lost both of their Europa League games to Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.

Four of the last five meetings between these sides here at Lotto Park have ended level with the hosts winning one, only one of those five games saw Over 2.5 Goals while only two saw Both Teams to Score occurring. The home side have won three and drawn one (winning it on Pens) over their four home games this season while the visitors have won just one of their four away games this campaign, drawing one and losing two, scoring five while conceding six while Sporting have scored eight and conceded just two. With the hosts having the better goal stats and getting them above Evens we’re taking the value on a home win for this one.

7.45pm: Atalanta vs Torino – Both Teams to Score

Atalanta are short-odds favourites to take the three points on offer here in this Serie A clash but both sides have started with two wins and a draw over their three league games so far. In fairness to the home side though, they’ve had the tougher fixtures, beating Sampdoria and Verona while drawing to AC Milan while Torino beat Monza and Cremonese and drew with Lazio.

Il Toro have been a bogey side for the hosts for the past few seasons, indeed the hosts have only emerged victorious in two of their last eight meetings on home soil while the away side have won three with three ending level. Looking at recent home vs away form too we’d be very cautious about backing the hosts, they’ve won none of their last seven home Serie A games; drawing four and losing three while the visitors have won four and drawn one of their last five. Five of those seven home Atalanta games saw BTTS while it was also witnessed in four of those five away games for the travelling side. BTTS has to be the bet here.

7.45pm: Bologna vs Salernitana – Under 2.5 Goals

Bologna have only chalked up a solitary point from their three Serie A games so far, they did, at least, win their season-opening Coppa Italia game 1-0 against Serie B side Cosenza. Salernitana finished just a point above the dropzone last season but have taken four points from a possible nine so far, thumping Sampdoria 4-0 at home over the weekend and drawing and losing their prior league fixtures.

The hosts are decent at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara it must be noted, they’ve won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five home Serie A games with BTTS landing in four of those five while Overs was seen in three. The visitors are a tough nut on the road though, they’ve actually been unbeaten over their last five away league clashes, drawing three and winning two with BTTS occurring in three. While those stats look good for both sides we need to remember that form is key here and the sides have only scored a total of six goals over their respective three league fixtures. With Overs occurring in just four of their last 10 combined home vs away games we’re getting some very good value here for Unders at Evens at the time of writing.

8pm: Leicester vs Man United – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

Leicester’s disastrous start to the season has kind of gone under the radar thanks largely to Man United’s bad start to the season as well as Liverpool’s too but the Foxes have only a point to their name over their four Premier League games, one draw and three losses and needed penalties to overcome Stockport County in the League Cup. United lost both of their opening league games before beating Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford and then taking the three points when they beat Southampton 0-1 over the weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s side look like they’re on an upswing but it must be stated that they’ve only won one of their last five away PL matches, losing the other four while the hosts have won two, drawn one and lost two of their five most recent home league fixtures. Leicester have the superior goal stats too this season with six goals scored to 10 conceded while the Red Devils have netted just four and have conceded seven. We should see goals here then and the odds for a combined BTTS & Overs has the best value here, especially since it has landed in all five of their most recent games at both grounds.
