19:00 – Cadiz v Athletic Bilbao: Bilbao to Win

Consistency usually matters early-season. Remember that. Cadiz for all that they stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season are floating in purgatory with no real direction and throwing darts at players in the Danish top tier to aid their creative issues is not the answer.

Bilbao retained the services of Inaki Williams, Raul Garcia, Iker Muniain and Unai Simon this summer. They remain a side who don’t ever express themselves extensively, but rarely get embarrassed. With coach Ernesto Valverde maintaining the focus on being consistent in defensive shape, it’s not shock to see them yet to concede this year.

They won’t here, either.

19:45 – Bohemians v St Patricks: Double Chance, St Pat’s & Draw

Bohs very much feel like they’re still waiting for their season to get underway. I think part of that is down to the fact that they’ve constantly overachieved compared to their budget in recent years.

But they also carry that reputation with them into pricing models and I’m here to inform you that you can be fairly confident that Pat’s, a side who were robbed in Europe and who’ve won three of their last four, will overcome a Bohs team stung by injuries and who’ve not won in their last three.

19:45 – Shelbourne v Derry: Both Teams to Score

Damien Duff might not have been the juggernaut people expected him to be, but in reality, they’re ten points off Europe, coming from a season in the First Division with no fear of being relegated. It’s job done. The naivety which plagued them earlier in the year was swiftly disposed of and swapped out for a more cautious approach.

Now? He’s allowing his side to play with more freedom. Their games have been more entertaining since and I’d fancy them to bag here.

19:45 – Sligo Rovers v Dundalk: Dundalk to Win

This is a very tasty price, especially as it feels like Sligo are yet to recover from going out in Europe in such deflating fashion. Yes the coefficient took a nice upturn due to their second leg heroics, but it counts for very little.

They’re likely not catching Pat’s in fourth and the motivation has all but disappeared, with the cup now the focus. Dundalk will dispose of them with ease.

21:00 – Valencia v Atletico Madrid: Under 2.5 Goals

Neither of these managers are happy with their respective starts to the league season, so they’ll revert to type and try to take each other on through moments of quality. But that lack of urgency in the final third often leads to uneventful fodder, especially when there’s no context in which for them to operate?

Do we need to win? Unsure. Is a draw enough? Might be. These two know where they’ll be come end of season; they just need to refocus on what they do well.
