Sunday 2pm: Wolves v Newcastle
TV: Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League
The Draw
Wolves and Newcastle have made contrasting starts to the season. The Toon are unbeaten after three games, memorably taking a point off Manchester City last weekend in a thrilling 3-3 draw and will already have their eyes set on a top six finish.
Eddie Howe’s side were less impressive in their sole away game of the season at Brighton, heavily relying on Nick Pope to secure a 0-0 draw.
Wolves, on the other hand, are winless after three games, losing to both Leeds and Tottenham and only managing a scoreless draw at home to newly promoted Fulham thanks to Aleksandar Mitrovic’s missed penalty late on.
The signing of Matheus Nunes should help transform their fortunes as the season wears on, but they will struggle against a formidable Newcastle outfit on Sunday. There were plenty of signs of encouragement during the defeat to Tottenham last weekend, however, and Wolves should be good enough for a point at Molineux.
Both Teams to Score
Wolves have scored just one goal in their three league games to date, failing to score in their last two games. Meanwhile, Newcastle have kept clean sheets in two of their opening three games, suggesting that Sunday’s game will be scoreless if it does end in a draw.
However, Newcastle were porous in their 3-3 draw against Manchester City, offering the City forwards an abundance of space in the box. Wolves, on the other hand, caused plenty of problems for Tottenham last Saturday and will be looking to score their first home goal of the season when they take on Newcastle.

Chris Wood to Have One or More Shots on Target
With Eddie Howe confirming that Callum Wilson will be sidelined for a couple of weeks, Chris Wood is likely to start up top for the Toon.
Wood will have to take over from Wilson as Newcastle’s chief goal threat (prior to the arrival of Alexander Isak). He is good value to register one effort on target on Sunday afternoon.
Over 11.5 Corners
Wolves and Newcastle have both averaged a decent number of corners per game at this early stage of the season. Wolves have won a total of 15 corners in their opening three games at a rate of exactly five per game, while Newcastle have won slightly more at a rate of just over six per game.
Both sides are adventurous and play on the front foot, so it is not exactly surprising that they end up winning their fair share of corners. There should be plenty of chances and shots on Sunday and, by extension, there should be a considerable number of corner kicks.
