Liverpool and Man United aren’t the only two European giants in action on Monday night. Two of Italy’s biggest teams play their second match of the Serie A season, and our job is to find the betting value.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

First up, Jose Mourinho’s Roma side take on Cremonese, a side who lost to an injury time winner against Fiorentina in their first match. Following up, Massimiliano Allegri takes his Juventus side to Sampdoria, who drew a blank in their first game of the season. Lets get into our bets…

Roma v Cremonese – Roma & under 2.5 goals

TV: BT Sport 1, 5.30pm KO

Roma nabbed a 1-0 away win in their opening game of the Serie A season, away to Salernitana, in a game where they peppered the home side with 20 shots. Cremonense meanwhile conceded three goals from Fiorentina’s 28 shots against them last time out – as they went down to 10 men shortly before half time.

It would be easy to look at this game, and think that the newly-promoted side will easily be brushed aside by Mourinho’s team. This may well be the case, but a look at the stats shows that a tighter home win is more likely at the Stadio Olimpico.

Last season, Roma only scored 26 goals in 19 home games, and since the turn of the year, have scored more than two goals at home twice in the league – with one of those coming in a 4-3 loss. We think this has the look of a classic Mourinho low scorer, with a functional three points for Roma – so we;re going for Roma to win and under 2.5 goals.

Sampdoria v Juventus – Juventus & over 2.5 goals

TV: BT Sport 1, 7.45pm KO

Juventus breezed through their opening game of the campaign with a 3-0 home win against Sassuolo, whilst Sampdoria failed to score at home as they lost 2-0 to Atalanta. It’s likely to get tougher for the Genoa based side, as Juventus come to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Last time out, The Old Lady won 3-1, and took 6 points off Sampdoria last season – as well as a 4-1 triumph in the Coppa Italia. If history repeats itself, a Juventus win should be a walk in the park.

The betting value comes from how many goals will be scored – and we’re going for over 2.5 goals – which happened every time these two sides met last season, with 14 goals across 3 games. This bet would’ve come through for Juve in their opening game, and we’re backing them to go two for two on Monday night.
