Saturday night is going to be a mighty night of football and it’s going to be a tough ask to decide which game to watch. We’ll be delving deep into the stats when Inter take on Spezia in the Serie A and Marseille host Nantes in Ligue Un.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

In Portugal we have one of the biggest games of the season when Porto take on Sporting at home and in Spain, Celta Vigo take on the might of Real Madrid. Let’s have a look then at where we’ve found some value picks.

The latest football odds are on PaddyPower.com right now

Inter vs Spezia: Inter to Win & Over 3.5 Goals

TV: BT Sport 2, 7.45pm KO

Both teams began their respective Serie A seasons with a win; Inter beat Lecce 1-2 on the road while Spezia were 1-0 winners over Empoli at home. The hosts are short-odds favourites to win here and have beaten the visitors in three of their last four meetings at both grounds over recent seasons with the other game ending 1-1. Inter have won five of their last six competitive games with one ending level but winning it in Extra Time. On home soil, they’re undefeated over their last seven games played at the San Siro, winning six and drawing one with Over 2.5 Goals being witnessed in five of those matches.

Spezia had a busy preseason bringing in nine new faces in an attempt to finish higher than their 16th-placed position last time around but their pre-season friendlies weren’t exactly against tough opposition. They’ve won three of their last five competitive fixtures, losing the other two while on their travels won just one, drawing one and losing three, scoring five and conceding nine with Overs and BTTS landing in three. It’s worth mentioning too that Inter failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last five at home and with the away side’s scoring record they could make a dent here. Inter too have scored at least three goals in four of their last six and at least two in five. We should see a few goals here so we’re backing Inter to win & over 3.5 goals.

Marseille vs Nantes: Over 2.5 Goals

TV: BT Sports 3, 8pm KO

Marseille are also short odds to take the three points in this one, they’ve taken four points from a possible six so far this season while Nantes have drawn both of their Ligue Un fixtures so far. Over their five most recent competitive games at the Stade Velodrome they’ve beaten the visitors twice, losing two and drawing one with Over 3.5 Goals landing in three, Over 2.5 Goals in four and BTTS occurring in all five.

Les Phoceens have won four of their last five at home in the league, losing the other one, scoring a very healthy 13 goals while conceding six with Over 2.5 Goals being seen in four of those five. Les Canaris’ away form isn’t great, winning none of their last five away league games, drawing three and losing two with seven goals scored and nine conceded with Overs witnessed in three and BTTS in four. Goals should be a-plenty here so we’re going with over 2.5 goals.

Porto vs Sporting: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

TV: BT Sport 1, 8.30pm

Porto have played three competitive games so far this season winning the season-opening Super Cup and winning both of their Liga Nos games. Sporting have gathered four points from a possible six over their two respective league games thus far. The hosts have won this fixture in three of their last five meetings at the Estadio do Dragao in all competitions with two ending all square.

Porto have scored at least two goals in four of their last five games played on home soil and conceded four over those five fixtures while Sporting have gone one better, scoring at least three goals in four of their last five on their travels, conceding seven. Hard not to see both teams scoring here but we should see at least a third too with those scoring records; BTTS & over 2.5 goals at well above Evens is the value pick here.

Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid: Real Madrid to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

TV: Premier Sports 1, 9pm

Celta Vigo began their new season with a 2-2 draw at home to Espanyol while Real have so far beaten Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup and beaten Almeria 1-2 in their opening La Liga match. Celta always put up a good fight when Los Blancos come to town but they’ve lost five of their last six meetings between the sides at the Balaidos Stadium, drawing the other but they’ve scored in all six of those games and we’ve seen Over 3.5 Goals in five of those six with Over 2.5 Goals landing in all six.

Seeing that Real Madrid have conceded in all six of their most recent away La Liga games we should see Los Celestes netting against them again here on home soil and with the away side in strong goal-scoring form we see at least three goals here. Real to win and over 2.5 goals has to be the pick here.
