Neither Burnley or Watford have exactly hit the ground running in The Championship after their relegations from the Premier League last term. Both have won one and drawn one with both scoring two goals in their two games and conceding one apiece.
I’ll be honest, the early signs are not promising for a barn burner on the telly on Friday night. But hope springs eternal and The Clarets caught the eye on the opening day while Watford’s attacking line up is filled with sparkling talent, particularly at this level.
The fact is, though, that Watford were probably lucky to get out of their clash with West Brom with a point as it took an Ismaila Sarr wondergoal from inside his own half to get them on the scoresheet. Burnley battered Huddersfield on the opening day but huffed and puffed against Luton last time out, managing one shot on target from 71.3% possession in their 1-1 draw.
These top-end teams in The Championship seem happy to show each other respect, take the point and move on in these early stages of the campaign. It feels like the bigger teams at this level are playing each other every weekend at the moment and more often than not it’s ending all square. I think we may see that again and that makes The Draw a very appealing price.
Both Teams To Score
I think we’ll at least get some goals even if we can’t find a winner. It is, obviously, a very small sample size but these two have scored in both of the games they’ve played this season, with both conceding in one each.
Each pose different questions to their opponents in an attacking sense and it will be fascinating to see how Vincent Kompany fine tunes his side over the coming months. It feels like both might be slightly better going forward than they are in defence so I’ll take a swing on Both Teams To Score.
Ashley Barnes To Score Or Assist
Ashley Barnes can never be called free scoring but he’s been heavily involved in The Clarets’ attacking output this term. He’s yet to actually find the net himself but he’s set up both of their Championship goals so far.
The goals will come for him and if he can grab around 15 this season that will probably be seen as a success because of his all-round play and bruising impact on opposing defences. Given how key he’s been this term I think it’s a handsome price on Barnes to Score or Assist here.
Ismaila Sarr To Score Or Assist
We finish with Ismaila Sarr to Score Or Assist but for different reasons to Barnes. This is more becuase I can’t decide whether he’s going to be the provider or the finisher.
He’s got a goal and an assist to his name this term and he’s sure to be in the thick of it on Friday night. With plenty of Watford’s attacking output coming through our man, Ismaila Sarr To Score Or Assist should have a good chance.
