The Draw
We’ve an all-Championship affair in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night as Sheffield United head to West Brom in the first round. It looks to be the standout tie if you take into consideration the size of clubs involved and the quality of players at their disposal.
But will the second part of that calculation come to fruition? That’s always the quandary from a betting perspective in this competition and especially in the early rounds. Do either of these sides fancy a cup run? Is there going to be mass rotation? Will one stick and one twist?
With a lot of that up in the air all we can do is focus on the information we have in front of us and that’s pointing me towards The Draw. The Baggies have drawn both of their two Championship matches this season and both of them were against decent sides that The Blades will consider to be on a par with.
United have lost one and won one, with their three points coming at home, but the game they lost was to a leading light in the second tier, Watford. I think both will make a fair few changes and, with that further closing any gap there was between the two, I can see a stalemate at 90 minutes.
Under 2.5 Goals
Under 2.5 Goals has landed in all four of these two’s games this term, with The Baggies sharing two 1-1 draws and United having a 1-0 loss on the opening day and a 2-0 win at the weekend.
The numbers clearly point to another low-scoring game then, especially if we factor in the potential changes that will inevitably detract from the cohesion built up in the first two games. Under 2.5 Goals looks like the way to play.

Both Teams To Score
Though West Brom were perhaps unfortunate to concede against Watford on Monday night thanks to Ismaila Sarr’s super-long-range strike, the fact is that they’ve now conceded in both of their matches this season. United have kept a clean sheet but Middlesbrough breached them two games ago..
This has gone 1-1 written all over it to me so if everything goes to plan we’ll see Both Teams to Score in this one.
Callum Robinson to Score Anytime
If we are to see some rotation from the hosts it’s likely that Karlan Grant will make way for Callum Robinson. Grant is going to be so important for The Baggies this season that they’ll be mortified if he picked up an injury in this competition, especially in the first round.
Robinson started on the bench at the weekend having missed out on the opening day so you’d imagine he will, at least, get some action from the bench here if not a start. If he’s in that starting XI Robinson to Score Anytime is probably your best bet in the goal-scorer markets.
