Friday night’s football acca has a bit more of a familiar look about it; Germany’s Bundesliga and France’s Ligue Un both returned last weekend and we’re got two mouth-watering fixtures from both leagues. Spain’s La Liga starts back again with Osasuna hosting Sevilla at home and in the Championship we have two of the relegated teams facing off when Watford take on Burnley at Vicarage Road.

19.30: Freiburg v Borussia Dortmund – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

Freiburg drew their opening DFB Pokal game against Kaiserslautern but overcame them in Extra Time and beat Augsburg 0-4 in their opening Bundesliga fixture last Saturday. Dortmund beat rivals Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in their first Bundesliga game of the season and won their Cup game beating 1860 Munich 0-3.

Dortmund scored a total of 85 goals in the league last season but signed three centre forwards over the transfer window; Ajax’s Sebastian Haller, Cologne’s Anthony Modeste and RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi. Modeste and Adeyemi will shoulder the goal-scoring responsibilities until Haller returns as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer just after signing for BVB.

They should be a success too; Modeste scored 50 goals over his 113 appearances for FC Cologne while youngster Adeyemi scored 26 over 35 league games for Salzburg over the last two seasons as well as five Champions League goals over his two seasons in Austria.

The hosts always put up a good fight when Dortmund come to town, indeed they’ve only lost one of their last five encounters here, winning two and drawing two with Overs landing in four of those games and were impressive in their opening day 0-4 thrashing of Augsburg. Both teams come into this game with plenty of new firepower in their ranks and will both be gunning for the win here. Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals has the value here.

20.00: Watford v Burnley – Both Teams to Score

Both teams will be relatively happy with their respective starts to their Championship campaigns with four points from a possible six. Watford beat Sheffield United before drawing with West Brom while Burnley beat Huddersfield before drawing with Luton Town. The away side have had the edge over the hosts over recent encounters, winning three of the last five games played at both grounds and also winning three of the last five played at Vicarage Road.

The home side have won just one of their last five home competitive games, drawing one and losing three with BTTS and Overs landing in three of those games. The Clarets, over their recent competitive away games, have won two, drawn two and lost one with BTTS occurring in three and indeed one of those games included a 1-2 away win over the Hornets. Difficult to see either side keeping a Clean Sheet here as both have started the season quite well; the best bet is Both Teams to Score at some very decent odds.

20.00: Nantes v Lille – Both Teams to Score, No Draw

Nantes drew their Ligue Un opener 0-0 away to Angers while Lille beat Auxerre easily in a comfortable 4-1 home victory. It’s been 14 games now since Nantes were able to beat Lille at home in the league and that victory came all the way back in 2004. Of their last five meetings at the Stade de la Beaujoire the visitors have won four with one ending all square. Of their last five league games the hosts have only won one with three ending level and one defeat where BTTS landed in four with Overs occurring in three.

Lille have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five league fixtures, scoring 10 while conceding nine with BTTS and Overs landing in four of those five matches. Away from home they won two, drew one and lost two with BTTS and Overs being seen in three of those five encounters. Interestingly, last season Nantes only recorded four home draws from 19 games, while Lille drew just five of their away games and with so few draws occurring in previous encounters between the pair we have to look at the generous odds for BTTS, No Draw here.

20.00: Osasuna v Sevilla – Sevilla to Win

Let’s start off with a whopper of a stat for you for this one. When priced as the favourites in La Liga last season Sevilla won 97% of their fixtures. Sevilla fans are a tad worried though, four first teamers have been allowed to leave which has brought in around €85m but they’ve only signed two players, Real Madrid’s Isco and a Brazilian defender; Marcao, who has, of yet, never togged out for the international side. However, the visitors have beaten the hosts in four of their last five meetings at both grounds and at games played at the Estadio El Sadar have won three and drawn two.

Osasuna finished last season’s La Liga going six games without a win, three draws and three losses, while on home soil they won two of their last five, drawing one and losing two. Sevilla stumbled over the finishing line into fourth last campaign after running close to Real Madrid in second position for much of last season but with their strong record here compared to Osasuna’s poor performances at home over recent months we have to side with Julen Lopetegui’s Rojiblancos here.
