Both West Brom and Watford got their Championship campaigns off to decent starts with a 1-1 draw away at the fancied Middlesbrough for the hosts and a 1-0 win over last season’s playoff semi finalists Sheffield United for The Hornets. It means both sides will come into Monday night’s game in high spirits but with neither desperate to make amends for an opening-day slip up.
If we learnt anything from matchday one of the 2022/23 Championship season it’s that playing at home still gives you a huge advantage, with Burnley the only side able to wrestle three points from their hosts. That stat makes West Brom’s point at Boro even more impressive.
However, with everything taken into consideration, I think we might see a narrow West Brom Win here. It’s two teams of very similar ability but that home factor looks like it might just pay in the end.

Another theme from matchday one was goals, or the lack of. Across the 12 games Unders came in on 11 occasions with just Hull’s 2-1 win over Bristol City being the outlier. Overall there were just 16 goals across the 12 matches, an average of 1.33 per game.
The Baggies scored one and conceded one against Boro while it was Joao Pedro’s solitary strike that gave Watford the win against the Blades. This league might take a while to catch fire so Under 2.5 Goals looks to be the play.

If we’re looking for one man on the home side’s playing staff to play a major role in deciding the outcome of this game then we need look no further than Karlan Grant. He bagged 18 times last term in the second tier, that’s 11 more than West Brom’s second best, CR7 himself, Callum Robinson.
He also picked up six assists along the way which was The Baggies’ second-best haul last term and three fewer than Robinson mustered. In a low-scoring match we’ll hedge our bets a little and take on Karlan Grant To Score Or Assist on Monday night.
