Fenerbahçe v Umraniyespor: Fenerbahçe win & over 2.5 goals

19:45 KO

Last season’s second placed side start this campaign at home to newly promoted Umraniyespor. On paper, there’s a significant gulf in class between these two sides, and it’s no surprise the Istanbul-based side are the favourites.

This means we’re looking at other markets to find value – and we’re expecting goals in the fixture. Fenerbahçe ended last campaign as the division’s highest goalscorers, with the highest goal difference, averaging nearly two goals a game. They also come into this match off a 3-0 win in their Europa League qualifier against Czech side Slovácko, which included two goals for new signing Lincoln. They’ve also added former Premier League talent Josh King to their ranks in the pre-season.

With this attacking firepower, we’re backing a Fenerbahçe win, and over 2.5 match goals.

Cremonese v Ternana Unicusano: Cremonese to win

20:00 KO

Cremonese were promoted to the top division of Italian football last season, after finishing second place in the Serie B. On their way to 69 points, and second place, they beat Ternana at home and away.

They meet again in the first round of the Coppa Italia, and given that the Lombardy side have strengthened since their last campaign, in preparation for the Serie A (most notably with ex-Spurs centre back Vlad Chiriches) the task for Ternana looks even harder than last year.

So, we’re going simple, and backing the favourites for a home win.

Bologna v Cosenza: Handicap Betting Bologna (-1)

20:15 KO

This next Coppa Italia match also sees a Serie A side at home to Serie B opposition. Bologna finished comfortably in mid-table last season, whilst their visitors narrowly avoided relegation to their third tier of Italian football with a final day victory against Citadella.

Bologna have a couple of players that will be familiar to Premier League fans, with former Stoke City midfielder Marko Arnautović and ex-Cardiff hardman Gary Medel in their squad. They also had a strong home record last year, picking up 28 of their 46 points at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. However, they did exit last season’s Coppa Italia in the first round, losing 5-4 in a thrilling game against Ternana.

But, we think they’ll be no such cupset this time around – and reckon that the visitors, who averaged less than a goal a game last season, will struggle to threaten a side with 14 Serie A clean sheets last campaign. We’re backing Bologna to overcome a -1 handicap.

Gil Vicente v Paços de Ferreira: Both Teams To Score

20:15 KO

The final match of the night is from the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Gil Vicente snuck into fifth place last season, and have already started competitive action as they drew away with Latvian side Riga in the third qualification round for the Europa Conference League, on Wednesday night.

Their opponents for their Primeira Liga, Paços de Ferreira, ended last season in a comfortable 11th place, to secure their fourth consecutive season in the top division. Last season, Gil Vicente took four points off the side from Porto, although this fixture ended in a one-all draw.

We think both teams to score could be the shout for this match. BTTS came through for six of Gil Vicente’s last eight games in the previous campaign, and seven of Paços‘ last fourteen matches, including the last time these two sides met. Add in to the mix that Gil Vicente played – and conceded – on Wednesday night, and we think BTTS is a reasonable shout.
