Liverpool great, all round top man and Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is here to dish out some good news and some bad news. That’s right, it’s time for his Premier League relegation tips.
The teams coming into the top flight from the Championship are the obvious candidates but Leeds, Everton and Southampton might be looking over their shoulders. Will one of the bigger boys fall? Here’s Thommo’s Premier League relegation tips.
This might surprise a few people. Bournemouth have not recruited well at all. Fulham, I’ve got them finishing 18th, they’ve done alright in the transfer market and the left back Kevin Mbabu has just come in.
Nottingham Forest, now this is a big one. They’ve made 12 signings! I remember going back quite a few years when Sunderland were in the Premier League, they did a similar thing. They recruited and it was absolute mayhem.
I’m not saying that will be the case at Forest, I do have a soft spot form them from my playing days, but I think it might be too many too soon. I would rather have quality over quantity.
People will say, ‘Keep your big nose out of it Thommo!’ But I do think they are going to be second to bottom. I think it will be hard for Steve Copper to integrate them quickly enough.
