Football Tips: Thommo’s best Premier League bets for this weekend’s TV games

Box office punts from the big man.

The Premier League is finally back and that means you can plonk yourself in front of the TV all weekend and let the sweet, sweet football wash over you. To maybe help you pick up a pound or two along the way is Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson.

He’s cast his steely gaze over all five of the games on the box this weekend from the opener on Friday night, Crystal Palace v Arsenal to Sunday’s grand finale, West Ham v Manchester City. So let’s see that’s tickling Thommo’s fancy on the telly this weekend.

Friday 8pm: Crystal Palace v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Showcase

Palace have not had the best pre season while it’s been wonderful for Arsenal with good signings and positivity all over the place so I do fancy Arsenal here. I’ll go with Both Teams to Score and Arsenal to Win this.

I’ve got Gabriel Jesus to Score Anytime. He scored seven goals in five pre-season matches, yes we all know it’s only pre season, but he’s hit the ground running and he’ll feel so confident coming into this.

Saturday 12.30pm: Fulham v Liverpool

TV: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate

Fulham have lost five out of five of their opening games following promotion so the omens are not good. Liverpool have won their last four opening day games and they were unbeaten in their final 19 games last season.

They looked good in the Community Shied so I’m going for Liverpool to Win 2-0. I’m still unsure whether Darwin Nunez will start, Jurgen Klopp might go for Roberto Firmino, so I’m going for Mo Salah to Score Anytime. He looked electric against Manchester City.

Saturday 5.30pm: Everton v Chelsea

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Everton have gone unbeaten in their last 10 opening-day fixtures which is quite something. They won the first three home games last season but I don’t fancy them in this one because I think Chelsea will come out flying. I’m going for Both Teams to Score but Chelsea to Win this match.

I think Everton will be okay early on but I think Chelsea will have too much for them. I’m going for Mason Mount to Score Anytime. He likes to shoot from outside the box and he’s growing in experience now.

Sunday 2pm: Manchester United v Brighton

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Thommo’s tipped up an 11/1 Bet Builder for this game which you can check out HERE.

Sunday 4.30pm: West Ham v Manchester City

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Erling Haaland, to me, is going to be a star. He’s going to score loads of goals, no problem. Manchester City were unbeaten in their final 12 games last season so this is going to be hard for West Ham.

The Hammers have made some good signings and they do like to come out of the blocks. However, I’m going for Man City to Win and Both Teams To Score with Erling Haaland to Score Anytime.
