The second quarter-final of the Women’s Euros sees tournament heavyweights, and eight-time winners, Germany, take on Austria at Brentford’s Community Stadium, aiming for a spot in the last four.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
The German’s breezed through their group with three wins from three while Austria progressed as runners-up to England with two wins from their three fixtures.
Germany have the experience and pedigree but anything can happen in the knock-out stages of an international tournament. This our Bet Builder just for the occasion!

Germany to win
Hard to back against the Germans in this one after their fantastic group stage. They’re yet to concede a goal and have scored 9, including a comfortable 2-0 win over pre-tournament favourites Spain.
Germany have now moved into second favourites for the tournament, and who would back against them with players like Popp, Magull and Buhl in such great form. Anything but a German win would be a shock here.
Barbara Dunst to have 1+ shots on target
I’m going for an Austrian to have a shot on target here, Barbara Dunst, who plays on the left of a front 3. She loves a shot and actually leads the way in the tournament for shots taken, with 11 in 3 group games.
She has managed to put 5 of them on target, and with Austria’s chances potentially being few and far between in this one, I’d rather back her for one shot on target than 2 shots at the bigger price.

Alexandra Popp Anytime Goalscorer
There’s no doubt who Germany’s star is, their captain Alexandra Popp. The 31-year-old is a physical centre forward with 3 goals in the tournament already, and has filled a Lea Schuller-sized hole in their attack incredibly well.
Even if Schuller returns from Covid for this fixture, it would be very harsh to drop Popp after her start to the tournament. She scores all types of goals, so I’m backing her to ‘Popp’ up with another here.
Germany to receive the most cards
While this Euros has been quite tame for the most part in terms of yellow cards, Germany haven’t held back in many tackles. They lead the way in the tournament for yellows, picking up 5 in their 3 group games, whereas Austria have only picked up 2.
They’re a physical side, and when they lose the ball they don’t shy away from tackles, so at this price I think it’s a good selection to add in.
