Things get serious for England’s Lionesses now as they face their toughest Euro 2022 test to date in the shape of pre-tournament favourites Spain. Paddy’s two market leaders meet in the quarter finals after England blitzed Group A and Spain snuck into 2nd in Group B thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Denmark in their final game.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

Spain just don’t look quite right and some bad injuries to their key players look to have derailed their campaign. England are certainly one of the best sides in this tournament and will be, I think, expecting to book their place in the semi finals.

Can they do it? Let’s give Paddy’s markets a good shake down as I present your three best bets for Wednesday night’s big game down in sunny Brighton. Here we go.

Sarina Wiegman

Wednesday 8pm: England v Spain
Euro 2022 quarter final
TV: BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website

Short-priced punt: England to Win

If this game plays out like the rest of the tournament has for these two then England should win this pretty easily. They’ve looked a class above the Spanish and have racked up 14 goals in their three games, conceding zero in the process.

Spain lost to Germany and have shipped three goals and scored five. it just feels like momentum is with the hosts here and it doesn’t look like Spain have the tools to derail them at this moment in time. It’s not beyond the realms of comprehension but England to Win is a pretty decent price all things considered and feels the most likely outcome.

Value Play: England to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

As mentioned earlier, England have been winning and winning well. So far they’ve racked up 1-0, 8-0 and 5-0 wins and I think we’re going to see a score line more on a par with the first rather than the latter two here.

Austria look to better then we thought they might be while Spain are a bit worse. Spain beat Finland 4-1 before losing 2-0 to Germany and prevailing against Denmark in a must-win match 1-0.

Beth Mead England

That Germany result is probably the closest we’ve got to a true form line here and, with England yet to concede a goal, I’m backing them to keep another clean sheet. Spain were toothless against Germany so I think England to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 in the Correct Score Combinations market could be packed full of value.

Long Shot: Beth Mead to Score 2 or More Goals

We’ll finish off with a long ranger and who better to bang one of those into the top corner than Beth Mead? The Arsenal forward has been in sensational form this summer and has five goals in three games, including the vital only one of the game in England’s below-par opener.

She’s England and the tournament’s top scorer and looks to be thriving in this set up. She’s really stepped up and seems ready to fully embrace the role of The Lionesses star player as she approaches her prime years so we’re getting really appealing odds on Beth Mead to Score 2 or More Goals.
