We’ve got Spain v Germany in the Women’s Euros to get our teeth stuck into on Tuesday night. It’s a clash of two heavyweights and we’ve put together a tidy Bet Builder for one of the biggest games in the tournament so far.
Spain v Germany sees the first clash of two heavyweights in this tournament and we should get a really good idea of the level of where they are at come full time. Both really impressed on the opening day, scoring four times each and looking really dangerous going forward.
Spain like to keep the ball, working openings and wearing teams down, whereas Germany have a very threatening and pacey front three who can hurt you at any moment. They also have real strength off the bench, so if their starting team isn’t clicking they can make the necessary changes. It promises to be a really exciting game and it’s tough to pick a winner so I’m going for the goals angle.
Both of these sides have really strong attacking options, both scoring four in their first game. While their attack is quite strong, Spain looked a little shaky at the back against Finland, conceding after 50 seconds but also giving up plenty of chances on the counter.
If they defend in a similar fashion in this game, we could see the Germany attack rack up a few goals.
With all the threats Spain have going forward, it was centre-back Mapi Leon who impressed the most from an attacking point of view. Her set piece delivery was exceptional, notching two assists while creating threats from every corner she took.
Spain had 17 corners against Finland, so if they get even half of that in this game, Leon will have plenty of opportunities to add to her assist tally for the tournament.
With so much on the line in this game, it is sure to have a bit more bite to it than the opening fixtures. With Germany’s quick attacking threats, Spain will likely be in positions where they need to drag players down.
On the other hand, Spain keeping the ball for long periods is likely to frustrate Germany. We saw the cards rack up in Germany’s opener, with five yellows and a red, so I’m expecting to see a few more in this one.
