Tuesday night’s football fixtures presents us with a plethora of interesting matches from the Champions League qualifiication rounds and we’ll also be looking at some of the big names involved in the Scottish League Cup. We’ve found five value picks here from all of the games so let’s get stuck in and reveal what we’ve dug up in the markets.

19.00: Paolo Hibernians v Shamrock Rovers – Shamrock Rovers to Win

Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers travel to Malta with a three goal lead going into their second leg game against Hibernians and are odds-on favourites to take another victory here. Stephen Bradley’s side are in great form of late, winning four and losing one of their last five competitive games and have won three and lost two of their last five on their travels in all competitions.

Paolo Hibs aren’t in great shape at all, winning none of their last five games (two of which were pre-season friendlies) and looking at competitive games only have won two and lost three of their last five. Their home form has seen them winning three, drawing one and losing one but this game won’t be played at their home ground as it does not meet UEFA’s standards so will be played at the larger Centenary Stadium not too far away. The home side have been scoring of late so they should make a go of it, indeed by trailing 0-3 from the first leg they simply have to, but with Rovers being in such strong form we have to side with the visitors here.

19.45: Falkirk v Hibernian – Both Teams to Score

Falkirk needed penalties to advance past Greenock Morton in their opening Group D match while Hibs were 5-0 winners over Clyde at home. Hibs look like finishing top of the group and advancing to the knockout stage while Falkirk, as the League One side, will be expecting to finish second and squeeze in as one of the highest positioned second-placed teams. The away side have been strong over their last five games, winning four and losing one (this includes two friendlies) while Falkirk have only won one of their last five fixtures, drawing two (winning it on penalties) and losing two.

The hosts though will take much hope going into the game after seeing Hibs’ awful away form of just one away win over their last six on their travels where they lost all five of the others and conceded 12 while scoring just five. Hibs are the stronger side but that leaky defence means that the value bet here is in backing a Both Teams to Score bet.

19.45: Livingston v Inverness – Both Teams to Score

The Premiership side are odds-on favourites here against the Championship outfit and with a win each under their belts in their opening Group G matches it looks like this game could well decide who finishes top. The hosts have won three of their last five fixtures, drawing one and losing one while at the Spaghettihad (which is just the best stadium nickname in the world) share the same record, scoring 10 and conceding five.

Inverness have also won three, drawn one and lost one over their last five (including friendlies) while away from home have also won three, drawn one (winning it on penalties) and lost one but it’s worth mentioning here that the away side have only lost one of their last five meetings against Livi. The market is expecting an easy enough win for the top tier side here but the travelling team are in decent shape and should get their name on the scoresheet too. We’re backing BTTS for this one too.

19.45: St Johnstone v Annan – St Johnstone to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

Another easy home win looks to be on the cards here for the Premiership side taking on League Two’s Annan. The hosts have won two of their last five fixtures, drawing the other three (three of those five were friendlies) while on home turf have won four and lost one (one of those five being a friendly), scoring nine and conceding three in the process.

Annan currently lead Group F after beating League One’s Queen of the South 2-3 in their opening fixture. The Galabankies have won two, drawn one and lost two of their five most recent fixtures but their away form is terrible with just one win over their last five, drawing one and losing three. Hard to see anything other than a home win here but the away side could get on the scoresheet and with both teams in decent goal-scoring form we’re probably looking at a 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 scoreline here to the hosts.

20.30: Vikingur v Malmo – Over 2.5 Goals

Back to the Champions League for this one and Malmo hold the advantage going into the game 2-3 up on aggregate. Both sides are in great form with both winning four and losing one of their five most previous games with the hosts scoring 15 to Malmo’s 11. Of course, the Icelandic league wouldn’t be quite as competitive as the Swedish one. UEFA ranks Sweden’s league as being 23rd in their coefficient with Iceland’s being ranked at 50th.

The visitors are short-odds favourites with the market here and their experience over previous qualification rounds should stand to them. However, the home side are full of goals and one home turf has little to fear. We’re expecting plenty of goals here and what should be a very exciting match.
