God bless America. Or, more accurately in our case, God bless the Americas. As we wait for the Women’s Euro 2022 to kick off it’s left to our pals across the pond to keep us entertained on the football pitch and we’re not taking that for granted this Sunday night.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

For a fine four-fold acca I’ll be taking in the best on offer in America’s MLS, Brazil’s Serie A and Argentina’s Primera Division. We’ve got some big clubs in action on Sunday night into Monday morning from Sao Paulo to River Plate and some of the brightest lights Stateside.

I’ll try and walk the fine line between winning punts and eking out value from Paddy’s traders to see us through on Sunday night. Let’s see what’s on offer.

Sunday 10pm: Atletico GO v Sao Paulo – BTTS

We kick off in Brazil where Sao Paulo in 8th head to 13th-placed Atletico Goianiense in Serie A. You might be surprised to hear that the less-vaunted side in this fight are in the better form.

Sao Paulo have won just one of their last eight league games, losing two and drawing five. Atletico have racked up three wins, a loss and a draw in their last five. Only two points separate these sides and they’ve won just eight of their combined 28 games this term.

Atletico have a middling home record while Sao Paulo’s are the 6th-worst team in the Brazilian top flight on the road, relying heavily on their home form to keep them in the top half.

This is a tricky match to call, given the away side’s love of a draw, so I will instead side with Both Teams to Score. Atletico are pretty entertaining and this has clicked in four of their last five Serie A games and, while it’s only two of five for Sao Paulo, they’ve scored in all-bar two games this season.

Monday 00.30am: Columbus v Philadelphia – Under 2.5 Goals

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

To our first MLS game now which sees the Eastern Conference’s 3rd-best team head to its 9th-placed side in the shape of Columbus v Philadelphia. Philly are pretty good on the road while The Crew have the 4th-worst home record in the division.

This one feels like it should be pretty straightforward away win but a dive into the recent form muddies the waters significantly. Union have won just two of their last 11 MLS games, losing two and drawing an eye-watering seven.

Columbus have won two of their last five, drawing two and losing the other. While the form lines are a little confusing, especially given the sides’ respective league positions, one trend we can hopefully rely on is a lack of goals.

Philly have seen Over 2.5 Goals just once in their last seven while it’s two in six for Columbus. Plenty of ways to play this but the safest might be Under 2.5 Goals which is just about backable at the price for our acca.

Monday 1am: Sporting KC v NY Red Bulls – Red Bulls to Win to Nil

TV: Premier Sports 2

We’re Conference hopping here with New York Red Bulls, who are 2nd in the Eastern, heading to Kansas who are 2nd bottom of the Western. Sporting KC have the 4th worst home record in MLS while Red Bulls are the second-best team on the road.

This one looks straightforward and should indeed be. New York have taken the same number of points from their away days as Kansas have in all 18 games they’ve played this term.

KC have won one (which was away from home), lost three and drawn one of their last five. The Big Apple boys have won three and lost two of their last five, with both of those defeats coming on the road but they were against the sides with the 1st and 4th best home records.

Sporting are not at that level in front of their own fans and I’ll take a little bit of a swing on New York Red Bulls to Win to Nil. This has clicked in three of their last four and they’ve shipped just two goals in their last six, though NYRB to win is a very fair price all things considered if you prefer to play that way.

Monday 1am: Huracan v River Plate – BTTS

Sunday’s acca concludes in Argentina with Huracan hosting Primera Division giants River Plate. We’re only at the 6th round of games in the second phase of the season but River sit one place higher than Huracan in 8th with both on eight points but the visitors having the superior goal difference.

River have been a bit disappointing at this stage with their eye seemingly on the Copa Libertadores. They lost 1-0 at Velez Sarsfield in their last 16 first leg clash on Thursday and this game is sandwiched by the second leg next week.

Because of that continental competition I can’t back River to win here, even though they may well do so. I fancy Huracan might get something but I’ll play it a bit safer her and back Both Teams to Score. The hosts have netted in three of their last four while River have conceded in all four of their most recent matches in all competitions.

You’d back their fire power to breach Huracan’s backline with seven goals scored in their last two Primera Division matches. All in all, Both Teams to Score feels a good play here.
