Netherlands are defending champions going into this tournament, having beaten Denmark 4-2 in the 2017 final. However, they have a new manager this time after Sarina Wiegman became England head coach last year.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
From the team that started the final in 2017, there are still eight players who are expected to be in Netherlands’ best team in this tournament, including player of that tournament Lieke Martens, and one of the world’s best players Vivianne Miedema.
Here, our leading footy trader Sam Kingston takes you through what to expect from the Dutch.
Manager – Mark Parsons
Englishman Mark Parsons took over following the departure of Wiegman after the Olympics in 2021. He has previously managed four teams in America and Chelsea (W) reserves. He plays a similar style to his predecessor, which was a big reason for hiring him, with a 4-3-3 formation which suits this side down to the ground.
Captain – Sari van Veenendaal
Sari van Veenendaal has been Netherlands goalkeeper since 2011, gaining 87 caps along the way. This is now her fourth international tournament, her first being the Euros in 2013. She was included in the Team of the Tournament in 2017, conceding only three goals on their way to glory.

Star Player – Vivianne Miedema
With 92 goals in 108 caps, at the age of 25, she is Netherlands’ all-time leading goalscorer, and widely considered one of the world’s best players. She won the Silver Boot in the 2017 Euros with four goals.
Miedema joined Arsenal in 2017, scoring 74 goals in 89 league games. Her goalscoring record has been impeccable for every team she’s played for, and her form in this tournament will be crucial to Netherlands if they are to go all the way again.
Best Bet of Tournament – Vivianne Miedema Top Goalscorer
She’ll almost certainly lead the scoring charts for the Dutch, and it’s a fair shout she’ll lead the way for the whole of Euro 2022 too.
