Finland will most definitely be up against it in this group, having drawn two of the favourites for the tournament in Germany and Spain. However, they topped their qualification group ahead of Portugal and Scotland, and have a very experienced manager in Anna Signeul.

This is their first major tournament since 2009, when they were hosts and reached the quarter-finals, before getting knocked out by England.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

There are a few stars in this side, with Spurs goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela being one of the best shot stoppers in the WSL. Their front pairing of Sanni Franssi and Linda Sallstrom have also been amongst the goals this season, and could cause threats to any side they come up against.

Our trader Sam Kingston takes you through what to expect from the Finns.

Manager – Anna Signeul

Anna Signeul is known as a tactics expert, and worked as a UEFA technical observer for many years. She has managed Swedish youth squads, before managing the Scottish women’s squad for 12 years. She joined Finland in 2017, helping them to qualify for their first major tournament in 13 years.

Captain – Tinja-Riikka Korpela

Tinja-Riikka Korpela will be a key figure if Finland are to reach the knockout phase of this tournament. The Tottenham goalkeeper has been known to put in stellar performances this season, and is now widely known as one of the best shot stoppers in the WSL.

    Star Player – Linda Sällström

Linda Sällström is now Finland’s leading all-time goalscorer, with 46 goals in 103 games. The Paris FC striker notched 10 goals in the qualifying campaign, which were crucial to Finland’s qualification, finishing second in the top goalscorer charts behind Tine De Caigny of Belgium.
