Here we are then, folks. The European football season is FINALLY at and end with the final round of Nations League summer internationals bringing the curtain down on a lengthy campaign.
And before he dons his speedos and gets on the sun lounger, our very tipster-in-chief Phil Thompson is back once again with his football predictions for Tuesday night’s games.

We’ve some tasty matches in store for Thommo to stick his teeth into here. Can Scotland bounce back from that big defeat at the Aviva away at Armenia? Can Stephen Kenny’s side build on their thumping of the Tartan Army against Ukraine? Can England get revenge against Hungary? And can Wales build on their impressive draw with Belgium when they travel to face the Netherlands.

I didn’t see that performance from Ireland against Scotland coming at the weekend, but when one team doesn’t turn up, and the other plays above themselves it can happen. Ireland thoroughly deserved their victory.
I think there’s some complacency there from Scotland, who got a good result before their trip to Dublin, beating Armenia 2-0 at home.
Now they’re playing them again, and I think Scotland will win this one too.
Armenia lost 3-0 to Ukraine last time out, and their only win of late was against Ireland. There’s been some very strange results in this group!
So I’m going for Scotland to win this – and I don’t think they’ll concede either.
I’m backing Scotland to win 2-0.
As for who is going to get a goal, I keep clinging to Che Adams. He scored a couple of games ago, and think he looks the most likely here.
I fancy Che Adams to score anytime against Armenia.
7.45pm: England v Hungary
TV: Channel 4
Hungary have been in good form. They’ve certainly rattled a few teams and of course beat England a week or so back. They also got a 1-1 with Germany last time out.
This is massive for England. I wouldn’t say the wheels have come off, but there’s now doubts setting in. There’s been some good stuff. But not enough.
I think Gareth Southgate is right to say they’re too reliant on Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling to get the goals. It’s got to be shared around, particularly at this level.
England could quite easily have won that game against Italy. But then again, they could have lost. The defence didn’t look too good.
Hungary are not a bad team. They play some good football. It’ll be tight, but if fancy England to get a win.
I’m backing England to win 2-1.
As for a goalscorer, I think Harry Kane is desperate to get the all-time record – he’s only three off Wayne Rooney now. He’s been getting in good positions and got that goal against Germany.
I fancy Harry Kane to score anytime against Hungary.
7.45pm: Ukraine v Ireland
TV: Premier Sports 2
This one is taking place in Poland and it’s another big match for Ireland after that fantastic turnaround against Scotland.
We spoke before that game last weekend about Stephen Kenny’s position and I said then it’s easy chopping and changing everyone, but it’s time to persevere. And wow – what a result!
Can they reproduce that performance against a Ukraine side who have been carrying that wave of emotion for their nation? I think this is going to be tough. Ukraine are not a bad side. They play some great football and have players who can get goals from all angles.
I’m backing Ukraine to win this 2-0.
I also fancy Andriy Yarmolenko who was at West Ham. He’s a bit of a leader for them. He’s got that ability to come up with important goals.
I fancy Andriy Yarmolenko to score anytime against Ireland.
7.45pm: Netherlands v Wales
TV: S4C/ BoxNation
This is a tough one, and I wonder what team Rob Page is going to put out. He played a strong side against Belgium and they got a late equaliser, which was a great result.
There’s been some strange results in the Nations League. The Netherlands were 2-0 down against Poland and came back to get a 2-2 and even missed an injury time penalty to win it. But with them being at home, you’ve got to fancy the Dutch to win.
I’m backing Netherlands to win this 2-0.
As for a goal-getter it’s Memphis Depay for me. I think he’s one of those go-to people in this Netherlands side.
