England’s Nations League campaign continues away in Germany tonight and who better to give us the run down on the big match other than 42-capped England defender Phil Thompson? The Liverpool FC great turned Paddy Power ambassador captained the Three Lions on six occasions and knows a thing or two about big games on the international stage.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

England will be looking to get back on track after their drab 1-0 loss to Hungary at the weekend while Germany kicked off with a 1-1 draw against Italy and will probably be disappointed not to have won considering they had most of the possession. It’ll be interesting to see how this match plays out and here’s Thommo’s Germany v England tips.

Tuesday 7.45pm: Germany v England

TV: Channel 4 and All 4

I think it’s going to be a difficult one for England, I really do. I watched the game against Hungary and I wasn’t pleased with it. It was very, very slow and I think they left the pitch quite dry which doesn’t help England when trying to move it about.

England had a couple of chances but so did Hungary so I was a little bit disappointed. These games are absolutely massive. Germany have drawn their last two, against Italy last time out and Holland before that.

Before that they’d scored 19 in four games. Obviously a lot of the opposition is not too good but it’s the same with England because before that game against Hungary England had scored 20 in their last four.

If we go back to the Euros England beat Germany 2-0 so I think the Germans will be up for this game a little bit more than England, England are looking a bit shaky. I’m going with Germany to Win.

I’m looking at Timo Werner in this one. I was looking through the strikers and I thought about his Chelsea colleague Kai Havertz, but I’m going for Timo Werner to Score Anytime. He fits in better with the national team than he does with his club. I fancy Germany to Win to Nil as England looked so disjointed against Hungary.
