Sunday night’s football has us searching for value in the Nations League where we’ll be delving deep into the stats and form of the League A and B matches where Czech Republic, leading Group 2 after beating Switzerland on Thursday, welcome Spain to Prague. Portugal entertain Switzerland at home in the same Group.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
In League B, Serbia will be desperate to take the three points against Slovenia after losing to Norway on the opening day while our final match is a Scandinavian derby between those old rivals Sweden and Norway. Let’s get stuck in there and see where we’ve found some value bets.
Czech Republic v Spain: Over 2.5 Goals
Sunday, 19.45, Live on Premier Sports 1
The Czechs put in a solid performance against Switzerland midweek, winning 2-1 without their star man Patrik Schick. The Bayer Leverkusen man also misses out here thanks to an injury. Spain drew 1-1 with Portugal in their opening match. The hosts have won three and drawn two of their last five fixtures (losing one in ET) and on home soil have won three and drawn two, scoring 14 and conceding four.
Spain have won four and drawn one of their last five fixtures while away from home have won three, drawn one (losing it on penalties) and losing one, scoring seven and conceding four. Of course, Spain should come out on top here but the Czechs don’t fear anyone and in scoring at least two in four of their last five they’re executing to make it a tough night for the Spanish here. The visitors will be eager to top the Group with a win and in scoring 10 over their last five fixtures we should see plenty of goals in this one. Seeing Over 2.5 Goals priced at Evens is great value here.
Portugal v Switzerland: Portugal to Win & Over 1.5 Goals
Sunday, 19.45, Live on Premier Sports 2
Portugal left it late to rescue a point away to Spain midweek but that’s the thing about this Portuguese side, they just don’t give up easily and are incredibly difficult to beat. They’ve lost just one of their last 10 fixtures, winning two, drawing two and losing one of their last five. On home turf their form is even better with four wins and one loss over their last five, scoring 14 and conceding three, keeping three clean sheets over those five games.
Switzerland have won just one of their last five matches, drawing two and losing two and share the same record over their five most recent away games. The Swiss have a decent scoring record though, scoring eight over their last five and seven over their last five away games so will be confident of getting on the scoresheet here. A Selecao’s defence is pretty stingy though, keeping five clean sheets over their last eight fixtures and three over their last five at home so let’s take some cover by backing Portugal to Win and Over 1.5 Goals as a 2-0, 2-1 scoreline looks to be the most probable full time score here.
Serbia v Slovenia: Both Teams to Score
Sunday, 19.45, Live on Premier Extra
Serbia had been favourites to beat Norway midweek but Erling Haaland didn’t get that memo and his goal on 26 minutes was the difference between the sides. The hosts are short-odds to take the three points here and have won three over their last five fixtures, losing the other two while on home soil have won three, drawing one and losing one.
Slovenia have won just one of their last five games, drawing three and losing one and share the same record over their most recent away games, scoring seven and conceding six. The Serbs have the stronger side here, there’s little doubt about that but have only kept one clean sheet over their last 10 at home and with Slovenia proving so tough to beat with their amount of draws the best odds here are in backing Both Teams to Score.
Sweden v Norway: Both Teams to Score
Sunday, 19.45, Live on Box Nation
These old ‘frenemies’ have faced off a total of 107 times over the years with the Swedes winning 58, Norway winning 24 and 25 ending level. The hosts are the favourites but are still priced over Evens at the time of writing. Neither side are in the greatest of form with the hosts winning just one of their last five, drawing one (winning it in ET) and losing three. Their home record is strong though where they’ve won four and drawn one (winning it in ET).
Norway have won three, drawn one and lost one over their five most previous matches and share the same record over their most recent excursions, scoring five and conceding three while Sweden have scored nine (10 if we’re counting ET goals) and conceded just two over their last five at home. While their defence is strong you just can’t bet against Haaland getting on the scoresheet and this being a derby the motivation for getting one over your oldest rival is a massive factor that cannot be dismissed. Norway are enjoying the better form of the pair and we see them scoring at least one here while the Swedes have scored in 16 of their last 18 played at home. We’re sticking with a BTTS bet here too.
All four of these value picks in a four-fold Acca will give you odds of 17/1.
