Liverpool fell just short in this season’s Champions League final, with Real Madrid winning 1-0 thanks to a Vinicius Junior goal. It was a disappointing end to the season for the Reds, who won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup earlier this year.
Man City edged Liverpool in the Premier League this season and they will likely win it again next campaign but can they win the elusive Champions League? Pep Guardiola is desperate to win it for the first time since 2011 during his time at Barcelona. City have added Erling Haaland to their title-winning side so they’re Paddy’s favourites to win it next season.
How will Liverpool bounce back from their disappointing end to this season? They fell short in the Premier League and the Champions League when it mattered most. Jurgen Klopp’s men have reached the final in three of the last five years but will the likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah be at Anfield next season as their contract sagas drag on?
Bayern Munich won their 254th consecutive Bundesliga title this season but they weren’t good enough in the Champions League this time out, with Julian Nagelsmann’s side losing to Villarreal in the quarter-finals. Add in the fact that Robert Lewandowski could be on the move this summer and the German giants are behind City and Liverpool in Paddy’s list of potential winners.
Much like City, PSG are fully focused on winning the Champions League. They managed to persuade Kylian Mbappe to snub a move to Real Madrid, with the France star set to have the final say on everything in the club, from transfers and manager decisions to whether the kitchen staff should wear hair nets. Will betting on Mbappe help them win it next season?
Real Madrid won their 14th European Cup this season thanks to their victory against Liverpool in Paris. They did it the hard way, beating PSG, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool on their route to victory. The Spanish champions will also add the likes of Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger this summer to bolster their side.
Barcelona had a mini revolution under new manager Xavi this season and they’ll be hoping to kick on under their former midfielder next season. Xavi will likely get rid of some deadwood at the Nou Camp this summer and bring in fresh faces.
Last season’s winners Chelsea couldn’t get past Real Madrid this campaign but it was a turbulent season for the Blues. Their ownership crisis will be sorted ahead of next season and they’ll be sure to splash the cash in hope of kicking on in the Premier League and Champions League.
Antonio Conte worked miracles at Tottenham this season and secured Champions League football ahead of their north London rivals Arsenal. Conte will likely persuade Harry Kane to stay and keeping the England striker alongside Son Heung-min is a major boost for Spurs’ Champions League chances.
