It wasn’t enough to overhaul their opponents in the league table though, and that could be the decisive factor in what should be a hard-fought tie. County have been very strong at Meadow Lane this season, winning 15 games and losing just twice on home turf. They should just edge this in 90 minutes.

Notts County to Win
The visitors aren’t likely to go quietly though. The Mariners scored in all but one of their last eleven games and finished the season with a 4-4 goalfest against Eastleigh.
Their hosts aren’t exactly goal-shy either, with their top three scorers combining for 54 goals so far this campaign.
All of this points to a ding-dong battle for the semi-final berth, and over 2.5 goals appeals.

Both games this season were won by the away side between these two, with Notts County taking a 1-0 win back from Gresty Road in October, while Grimsby took the spoils in February with a 2-1 win.
The Magpies should right that this time, but it will be very close and County to win by exactly 1 goal makes a lot of sense to us given the history.

They’re spoilt for choice upfront, with Ruben Rodrigues and Kyle Wootton both netting 19 this season, while Callum Roberts alco claimed 16. He has been the most prolific of the three recently, with five in his last seven games, and also took penalty duties in their win over Altrincham a fortnight ago, so he might be the shrewder goalscorer selection at the prices.
